starting new IVF cycle
Well, I started Gonal-F today for IVF try #2. I'm not on Lupron -- I'll be using Cetrotide instead in a few days. I'm less hopeful than I was the first time around, but it still feels good to be starting something and not just sitting around waiting to get going. Hopefully the Cetrotide will do the trick this time around.

I know what you mean about being less hopefull. I think your first cycle so your so full of hope, and you think how can this not work????? The second time around your much more realistic, and then it only gets worse from there I'm sure.
I wish you the best of luck this cycle. Hopefully we will both get our BFP's. What other meds will you be on?

Thanks for the well wishes. This cycle I'm taking Gonal-F. On day 5 or so (after the b/w this weekend) they start me on Cetrotide. Around day 7 they either add Repronex or replace the Gonal-F with Repronex. The rest is standard -- hCG to trigger, progesterone from the day of retrieval on, along with more antibiotics and some other med I forget the name of.
So far so good -- Gonal-F always seemed relatively easy to do. The leg ones (Lupron before and Cetrotide this time) are harder because of veins in my legs, so I bruise REALLY easily. And the version of Repronex they use is IM, so that will be a pain to do. (DH really hates giving me shots.) But hey, it's all worth it if it works. Hope all goes well for you this cycle! |

Well, things seem to be going well this IVF cycle (though they appeared to be going well at this point last time, too, so who knows what that means yet). I am giving myself the hCG shot that triggers ovulation tonight, with egg retrieval scheduled for 9 a.m. Monday. This assumes my bloodwork tomorrow shows a continuation of things going well -- if my E2 drops like last cycle, we're not going to do the retrieval.
Now for the part I can only mention on this board...There's snow expected Monday morning, which doesn't affect our getting to the clinic so much (it's about a ten minute drive in all kinds of weather, and if worse comes to worse, we can easily take a cab there) as what happens to Ryan if there's no preschool. Last cycle we dropped him off at 8 a.m. and then headed over to the clinic -- DH picked him up at the usual time in the afternoon. I'm not sure what happens if school is canceled Monday. I don't really want Ryan to see his mommy all pale recovering from surgery. By the time he'll get home in the evening, I'll be much better. Maybe I'll call someone in the neighborhood to be on standby, in case 1) we actually go through with this, and 2) there's snow. Argh, just one of the things that makes secondary IF so tricky... |

Here is a silver lining....I loved cetrotide. That was the combo that did it for me the 2nd time around. I used gonal f, repronex and cetrotride, ovidrel also. But the cetrotide really was a big help in my cycles. Good luck
I hope this is your cycle! I did not use cetrotide the 1st iui cycle and it was a bust, I ovulated to early. And the 2nd cycle was a neg but my 3rd was fine with all the meds I posted at the beginning. Best wishes!!!! Faye

So far, so good. They retrieved 25 eggs today, 2 of which fractured, but that's normal. I'll get a call tomorrow about how many of them fertilized. I'm keeping my fingers crossed...

25.........wow, that's great. What an awesome number. The most I ever got was 13. Are you doing a 3 or 5 day transfer. I can't wait to hear how they're all doing. I'm so excited for you.
