Scared and confused

I took 100mg Clomid cd 5-9. By CD 12 I had 2 mature follicles, so they gave me a HCG injection (Sat). They told me to have BMS on Sunday night, Monday night and Tuesday night. Sunday and today, I have had pretty bad pain in my lower back and abdomen on my right side. I have also had a hard time catching my breath. I called the nurse today and she told me to go home from work and get in whatever position caused me the least pain and to stay there until the pain was gone. I asked how long and she said up to a week. She said my ovary may be twisted and could be cutting off its own blood supply. She didn't tell me whether we could continue trying to get pregnant this cycle or not. I am so confused and scared. I wish I had asked more questions, but I just don't know what to ask. Help.

hi,

I am sorry you are having this pain and the nurse seemed to cause alarm

I would definatly call back and ask as many questions as you have. The nurse seemed to suggest something serious (which is not very helpful). You have every right to call back even if it is after hours. I would not lie there for a week without calling in!!!! Especially to ask if you can still try to concieve!!!

When I was on clomid I remember that I was also in severe pain. The RE told me to think of it as having two water balloons hanging from your fallopian tubes. He told me to take it easy not to do any low/high impact excercise.

I would also drink lots of water. Clomid can be dehydrating.

Wishing you all the best!!

Thanks for the reply. She told me I may need to take up to 3 days off work. I am going to see how I feel in the morning, but I am going to call them first thing either way.
I have been through 5 rounds of clomid with my ob with no problems (and I took it for two days before they determined I needed a lap...got pregnant that cycle, didn't know it and MC due to the surgery) and the first time I have had a HCG injection.

Wow, the nurse should have given you more information that that. I was on clomid for a year and never had any pain like that. If in fact it is a twisted ovary is there something they can do??? I think if it were me, I would call back again if your still the same today and ask questions, and get some answers. I'm sorry you're going through this, and I wish you the best of luck this cycle.

Thanks everyone. I have been feeling much better. I went to the doctor this morning and everything looks fine. Both of my follicles released so now it is just wait and see....pg test date Feb 25. I told myself I wasn't going to get my hopes up on this cycle, but it is hard not too. I just know it is going to lead to another disappointment.

I took clomid a goodmany times as well, I never really had pain but could tell which ovary was the one that released. Good luck and hope your 2ww goes fast.
