BETA levels (pg ment)

Hi, everyone,
I had a question, but first a little background. My husband and I have been ttc #3 for about 2 years. We did Clomid for 6 months w/o success. This past month I did not take any meds but had an HSG. They didn't see any blockage but It hink it may have opened up my tubes b/c I'm pregnant ! I took the HPT on cd 33. I usually ovulate around cd17 so start my period around cd34. I was completely shocked by the ++. Anyways, my question...

I went to the doctor on cd34 to get blood work and she said my Beta levels were 3500 which are very high. I do not go back until Thursday. I have been looking and looking to see what these high numbers could mean but as I understand they can vary widely from woman to woman. I have never had this bloodwork so early in a pregnancy and just wanted to hear some other real experiences.

Thanks!

Sarah

P.S. My other children were good size at birth. Could it just be a fast growing baby?

I just wanted to say Congrats Sarah!
Unfortunately I have never had betas done so I don't have any info to help you.
But you do keep my hope alive as we have been trying for #3 for just over 2 years...so miracles can happen, huh?
Good luck

Hi there Sarah,

First of all. Congratulations. I'm so happy for you, and glad that your struggle with IF is over - at least for a while. LOL

I've done 4 IUI's and 2 IVF's so I know a bit about beta's but by no means am I an expert. Having said that I know that some people's beta numbers are usually around the 300 mark on CD 14 after transfer which would be the same as after ovulation I believe. If you think you Ovulated on CD 17 and tested on CD33 then your beta was done 16 days after ovulation. This does seem like a high beta number which is good because that could mean a really strong pg or maybe twins??? LOL

How do you feel about 2?

Good luck with your pg.

Thanks, ladies, for getting back so quickly. I am almost scared to beleive it is true just yet. I actually would welcome twins. It seems to have taken so long and been such a struggle to conceive that 2 would be incredible. I guess I will know more Thursday.
Keep up hope. Miracles happen!

Sarah

Sarah
I found a web site that has average beta numbers for single, twins and more pregnancies. I think I saw it on the pregnancy board. Try there!

Just one baby

Hi, everyone,
Thanks so much for the replies.
We went to the doctor Thursday. The ultrasound showed one baby just over 6w. We even got to hear a heartbeat. Such a miracle- still in shock. My progesterone was right on the low side so I will start on progesterone supplements today. We have another ultrasound in one week to make sure he/ she is growing properly.
Thanks, again, for all the support.

Sarah
