    *Sigh*...more schtuff to deal with....

Just ot recap, Ss was dx in kindergarden with ADHD, was on meds through K, 1 and part of 2nd last year, then stopped and did okay. He struggles heavily in reading and writing and we were going to start him back on the ADHD meds and then do a fine motor eval for his writing.

Okay, so Ss's mom took him to the doc to get started back with his meds for ADHD and the doc wouldn't give them to her....he's a new Pediatrician and he doesn't concur with the old doctors dx of ADHD...he thinks that there is a different issue, probably a learning disability, that is causing the problems, because he seemed to do okay without meds while he was off them...he wants him to go for a nuero psych eval first and foremost. So, now the school wants to wait for the nuero psych before thy will do a OT eval. We are tryingt o get the SD to just do a full eval, all at once, and now have to meet with his teacher, Sp Ed director and Developmental Ped. first to see if they will do it or if we actually have to take him to an outside institute for the nuero first and then back to SD for OT....*sigh*....

On top of all this, he is tired all the time and his mom thinks that he has sleep apnea...why, I don't know...he doesn't show any of the things that would tip me off to SA, but maybe I'm missing something...I think hes anemic, but no one will just take him for a simple finger stick 5 minute test to check that first...they'd rather put im through a whole sleep study instead But that is a vent for another board....

I guess I am just frustrated The sleep study is the 14th, from 8pm to 5:30am...DH is taking him, since only one of us can be there, and I imagine they will both be bears Sat morning. The meeting with the school is on the 18th at 3pm...of course, no one asks me about this and I have a OB appt that day, that I now have ot reschedule or miss the meeting at school which I will NOT do....I think I'm the only on ewho ever has any questions anyway....Like I said...I'm just frustrated...

    Thanks for listening...I'll keep updating...

Sounds frustrating...I'm so sorry you and SS are coping with this right now. Poor kid....a sleep study? Does he snore...wake up alot? I would think that they'd check his blood and examine him to see what other possiblitys are causing his fatigue.

Hopefully all will fall into place for you guys soon and SS gets the help he needs and deserves!

Carmen....breathe...breathe...breathe.. and remind yourself to do that frequently. Think of this year as the year to get Tommy on track. You have all done the right thing with the evaluations. A neuro psych eval will help your ss a lot (I woudl think anyway!!) and you will find out what they say. OT can be evaluated over a few weeks (or a day depending on the school and how they run things!). Don't stress. All anyone is doing right now is guessing, hopefully you will have answers in a few weeks. But remember...you may NOT get answers as well. Unfortunately life can hand you that card too. Sometimes it takes more tests and more tests and more consultations and more time to get to the right dx. Just breathe, love your children, and remember that Tommy will be successful with everyone helping.
