I found an article in a medical journal that I thought I'd share. I used to be a certified nutritionist years ago, and I'm always researching the latest in nutritional medicine. Anyway, this article was about a research study on infertile women. The study found that only 7% of infertile women had normal vitamin D levels and that none of the women with abnormal ovarian function or polycystic ovarian syndrome had normal levels of vitamin D. Almost 40% of those women actually had severe deficiencies of vitamin D-3 (the functional form of vitamin D). The recommendation was for women who are ttc to take 5,000 iu of D-3 a day.

It's a yam derived supplement that has shown great promise in improving egg quality as well as quantity. I think it's worth asking your dr about if you're having trouble conceiving, just make sure you don't take too much for too long because it can cause an increase in male hormones in a woman's body with long term use, which can lead to weight gain and facial hair and can increase breast cancer risks, among other things.
