as by LMP i am 6w2D...but saw only yolk sac...are there any chances

Today i had my 1st scan....when i went in...they saw only yolk sac and gestional sac...no fetal pole....i am so worried...doctor said that i may be in 5th week.. and ask to come next week for another scan....I dont want to loose this baby,...we have been pg after three long years.

please let me know if anybody has experience this and had successful pregancy and baby

We went at 7 weeks and only saw a dot...u/s tech said it could be a fetal pole, but we had to come back, she was not worried at all. I am now 19 weeks with a healthy baby boy!! Everything works out. Mine was a late implanter and I ovulated late. Late bloomers, gotta love 'em!

Hi, I answered on your post in the General Pregnancy Board. Just wanted to say that if you are a little behind (by a week as your Dr. said) or maybe ovulated later, it could be just a late implanter. But you saw the gestational and yolk sac, which are good things to see. I'm positive that at your next u/s, you will see the HB. I was told that even a couple of days, can make a huge difference. I saw the HB at 6 weeks 4 days and the week before just the gestational and yolk sac.

tanyakollack & Sherb thanks for replying my post i am bit ok and a little relax after seeing that it is pretty common to miscalculate....after seeing post here and on other board..i took calender and sat counting days then found out i was just 5w4d..and not 6w2d...so i really a bit relax till next scan on 14th feb...(what a wonderfulday to see a heartbeat)..till then i will be 6w4d(same as u sherb)

But I still want you to pray for little bean...I will keep you updated

just wanted to add that many docs won't scan until at least 7w (or even 8w) -- so if you don't see a h.b. at 6w+ don't despair.

the main thing is to see growth between u/s... and hopefully within appropriate timeline, the fetal pole and a h.b. -- although not always at the same time... fetal pole comes first.

it sounds like your pg was a natural conception... so there's a fair bit of wiggle room on dating the pg... even if your cycle is like clockwork, late implantation changes the numbers and at this early state a few days (or even ONE day) can make a huge difference.

I was on clomid150mg cd2-6 but took it from cd3 to cd 9..but i am late ovulater...I ovulate around cd 18-cd22...so i might be a week off..but tommorow scan will be what is goingon and I hope that i see everything normal and fine...Please keep praying for me...
yesterday i took 1st scan photograph and notice that i see 1 inch line in gestation sac but away from yolk sac and there were very tiny tiny few dots like spinal bone in linen attach to yolk sac...so maybe fetal was devloping

Still keep praying and i will update you tommorrow.

one way to date your pg would be to take your best estimate of O (for example cd20 seems to be in the middle of when you typically O) and add 2 weeks.

i believe when they normally date by LMP (last menstrual period) they assume the 'average' 28 day cycle with O at 14 days. funny/sad since i don't know how many women that acutally applies to?

in my case i dated both pgs by IUI date, which approximately corresponds to O (although again a bit of wiggle room +/1 a day). my current pg my IUI was cd21 (similar to your late O) -- if I used LMP my dates would be off by a week.

Hi tia,
I had my scan on saturday and found HB at 102..Radiologist never said anything..but was busy writing all the things...as per Measurement i am 6weeks and as per my ovulation I am 6W4D+/-2D..Doctor said nothing to worry about no sex till 12 week and to come after 14 days...then i will be 8 weeks as per my Gsac..hope baby will catch up...and will have my next scan then..

I'm curently in the same boat,, I'm 7 weeks 1 day today but when i was 6W6D my first scan only saw a gestational sac nothing else and he said i was only measuring 5 weeks, next scan on 13/5/09.. blood work was HCG 17508.on the 6/05/09.
