Purple, I cannot find the section in the Dr Luke book right now. But I am certain I read that we should be resting 6 hours a day at about 26 wks, and yes that was in addition to regular sleep. I know I am not getting that much, if I am lucky I get 1 hour of horizontal rest time. I need to find more time for this.

Hi Ladies! I know it's been a long time since I've been able to be an active part of the group. I've really had a lot going on with illness and other personal things. I've had a hard time keeping up with everything. Things seem to be slowing back down again, which I am very glad about. I've been really worn out. This pregnancy is also taking it's toll on me. That is frustrating me too. I've been pregnant with 2 sets of twins (3 set, 2 all the way through) and handled it well. If I'm going to lose one baby and only have a singleton, it would be nice if the pregnancy was at least easy. But, alas, this is the worst I've ever experienced morning sickness. I still feel very nauseous a lot at 26wks. Plus, I am much more tired than I ever was with any of my others. I keep expressing my disappointment that this isn't a breeze and the OB's keep telling me that no matter how many babies, pregnancies get harder the more you have. Anyway, enough complaining from the woman only pregnant with a singleton. I've been skimming everyone's posts, but not stayed super up-to-date on where everyone is. So, please excuse my ignorance if I ask you a question you've already posted the answer to. I've updated the OP. If I missed adding anyone or I missed putting in genders or even....a birth....please don't hesitate to let me know. I am planning to go back to posting more and hoping to offer whatever insight I have from my 2 twin pregnancies. Please consider this as my re-intro.

Hairwiz - How are the babies? Last time you posted Gavin had had a bad night with pulling out the vent, but Olivia was trying to nurse. What's the latest?

Sarah - Sounds like you are where you need to be. I've done the hospital bedrest. No fun, but a necessary evil. LOL. Sorry the food is yuck. The food wasn't very good when I was there either. I always ordered lots of stuff because I knew I wasn't going to like most of it. Blah!

Carly7 - I added you to our list, but I didn't see your due date info. Also, did you PM me a while back and I forgot to respond?? When I saw you post I remembered that I read it and it totally slipped my mind to respond. I'm so sorry!! I hope you can forgive me. Please PM again if you need me and if for some odd reason I don't respond (because I normally do), please PM again and ask if I got it. Sorry. Hope all is well and that the girls were able to ease your mind. They gave you great insight and the same info I would have.

I haven't read the book in a while and I probably have a slightly older edition at this point, but yes, REST, REST, REST!! Good for babies and for mom.

Heather: I hate that you are feeling bad...hopefully it will improve.

Sarah: the food wasn't too bad, but I would have loved having some "real food". They were really picky with my GD. I really respect what you are doing/ going through for your babies!

Pretty/Sharon: rest, rest, rest...I am proof that it makes a huge difference!

Pretty: my MFM told me this weekend that I never should have continued the level of activity I was maintaining if my swelling would not go away within 8-12 hours of rest. Too bad my ob didn't tell me! With my hosp bed rest my swelling is almost completely gone for the first time since about 24 weeks! It didn't even return with the 2hr drive home today. Listen to your body and take care!

Andika: I am glad you are not feeling your anemia and hope the iron supplements work well.

Belly support: I just wore mine while on my feet. It was too restricting to sit or lay down in.

AFM:I did get to go home today, so no more hospital food this week! We deliver next week, but I am not sure yet what day.

Jake's Mom, thanks for your experience on the resting and swelling. I find it so interesting that your ob said that. I have to make more time for rest now.

Heather- Hugs to you! Sorry you are still feeling bad.

Gavin had a night where he pulled the tube out last week.Sunday morning they flipped him over to do his diaper, and he started desaturating, and they couldn't get it back up.They thought the tube was out or blocked and it was neither..They had to turn off the ventilator and bag him to get it back up.Blood work showed low red blood cells again. So he had transfusion #4.Later that day after I went home I called to see if he was improving, but he wasn't.HUH! I decided i was going back cause I was worried. While doing his hands on I was holding his hand and talking to him he started desating again. The nurse apparently saw him turn his head wrong and dislodge his tube again. She was trying not to alarm me.When she called for RT and the Dr. and said the tube was out I realized his chest had stopped moving. OMG! I stepped out of the way and thought I could keep myself contained by talking to Olivia. It didn't work.I stepped out into the hall when I saw 4 of them working on him. They got him stable quickly, but I was traumatized as I'm sure he was. Yesterday he was more stable, and I held him again.Slowly his oxygen is coming back down. They say he may need another transfusion.Maybe another round of steroids.Just wait and see. They are ahppy with his progress in every other way except his lungs refuse to get better.
    Olivia started with her first bottle Sunday,and has done very well.After 2 or 3 she gets a little tired,but that's normal.They are 34w4d now.She is 4lb.9oz.and he is 3lb.2oz.
    Sorry so long.

Hairwiz-that must have been incredibly scary for you! I'm glad they were able to get Gavin stabilized and I sure hope his lungs improve soon! Sounds like Olivia is doing wonderfully and that's great! Hang in there mama!

Thanks Heather and Brianah, it's amazing how much food can make a difference to one's mentality. When you can look forward to a tasty meal it makes things a lot more tolerable, but when you can't it's tough. I'm having hubby pick up some items for me so that'll make it a little easier . I'll make it through! It's kind of worrisome though, I'm actually still about 6lb lighter than I was before I got preggo. Babies are gaining so that's great but man, this has been quite the diet plan for me.

Jake's Mom - Woo Hoo for getting sprung!

Hairwiz - I can't imagine seeing that. I've been there with my dad. I can't imagine seeing it on my little baby. I'm sorry you witnessed it and at the same time, I know you are glad you were there for him. It's a catch 22. I'm praying for his lungs. Obviously, my babies were not nearly as early and didn't struggle like he is, but my baby B from my second set had lung issues that seemed to just go on and on when it felt like he should have been getting better. Then all the sudden he was doing great. They told me that is common....one step forward, three steps back over and over and then suddenly they just leap ahead. I can't wait to hear about that happening with Gavin. I'm happy Olivia is doing so well. Hang in there! I know it's hard to imagine, but some day this will be over and they will be home. My SIL had her trips at 25wks and they were in the NICU for a long time (with major issues with the only boy. The girls had issues early on, but then were mostly "growers and feeders" or whatever it is they call them.), but they are 4.5 now and doing great. Yours will get there too.

Sarah - Glad you have some good food coming! I agree food is a big deal, especially when you are pregnant.
