    Made it to 36 Weeks!

    Hi Everyone!

Haven't been on the forums in awhile but just wanted to drop a note and say that i made it to 36 weeks today! Both babies (boy & girl) are around 6lbs. Our Doc is very happy that I made it past 34 weeks which for some reason was a "milestone" for twins he said. He wasn't too clear on why this is the case but something about the NICU considers 34 weeks as the time when they typically release premies home.

It's been a long and difficult pregnancy and @ 32 weeks i was having major contractions and we thought i was going then but it seems like my body settled down. My DH wants me to hold out for another week or so but i want these babies out

This site has been a great source of information and support.

congrats! 36 weeks is great! Mine only made it to 35w6d, but they still came home from the hospital with us thankfully! Good luck in the coming weeks...and months after they're born

made it now to 37 Weeks and babies are measuring in around 7lbs and 6.5lbs. I wanted to have an elective c-section tonight so my current OBGYN can do the surgery but my PE doctor wants to me hold out until next week and deliver at 38weeks to ensure better lung development.

Great job so far!! Not that I'm a dr or anything, but I totally agree with holding out as long as you can. The longer those babies can cook the better it is. It is likely if they were born now, they would do just fine, but you really never know. My second set was born at 36wks exactly. Everyone thought they would be just fine because most 36wkers go home with mom and my previous set was 35 and went home with me. However, with my second set at 36wks, my baby B still had immature lungs and ended up in the NICU for 11 days. And, I've seen that happen with twins born later too. If there are no complications, letting them cook as long as possible is always best.

Keep up the good work!!!! Keep us posted on their arrival!

How exciting Mine were born at 36w3d and were fine, but, like Stargazer said, letting them cook a little longer is a good idea! Did you have a steroid shot? I had one at 28 weeks.
