Question Could be twins or triplets!?! Too early to tell? I hate waiting...

    Hi All,

Well I got past the IVF DE procedure. Got past the 2WW without freaking out too badly. Made it through the "What does my beta really mean" stage. Now I'm on the "Wow, I can't believe all three implanted" phase.

I went out of the country to Mexico for my IVF DE procedure. I had 3 blasts transferred all good quality. I didn't think that they would all implant but they have or at least we think that they have implanted.

Went to our first ultrasound this past Monday and saw three of the "yolk sacs" on the ultrasound screen. Baby One has a heartbeat (kinda slow at 95) but otherwise looks good. Baby Two has nice small sac around it but is too close to the side to be able to distinguish it's heartbeat from my pulse, although we did see the heart. Baby 3 we aren't sure about yet, it is laying really close to the side of the yolk sac and we didn't see a smaller sac around it. It looks as if there is a baby there but who knows. The bottom line is that it is just too early to tell.

I suppose at some point one just has to let go the stress and worry. I suppose I have to just let go and hope for the best.

Hi Minniekitty, You are in one of the most difficult "wait and see" phases of this whole process; I remember it well. How many weeks were you when you had your ultrasound? When do you have the next one?

    Hi Margarete Anne,

I was about 5 weeks and 3 days on my first ultrasound. They measured the babies at 5 weeks and 5 days of development. I'm going to my first prenatal on the 26th, I'm hoping for another ultrasound the tech said that they may do one on that day. I'm going to request one since I'm paying for it anyway, my deductible is high.

Just spoke to my doctor today, she set me up for another ultrasound on the 28th :-) I'm going to a high risk doc after my ultrasound -- such is life.

    Minnie,

The MFM was my BFF during my preg. I had some issues with IC and PTL (escape artists, lol) and never thought I would come to rely on and respect a doctor so much.

It is for the best to see the high risk doc. Best of luck!

    Hi Kim!

What is an MFM and IC and PTL? Is MFM maternal fetal medicine? PTL preterm labor? I went to glossary but the terms aren't there :-)

Yes you are right, high risk doc is the best for me due to age and multiples.

    Cool
MFM - Maternal Fetal Medicine Dr. Basically, a high risk OB or perinatologist.

    IC
    - Incompetent cervix. Basically, your cervix is not strong and will start to dilate.

PTL - Pre-term labor. Just what it sounds like, going into labor before you are supposed to.

Congrats on your pregnancy! The waiting is really hard. Hopefully, you will get some definitive answers on the 28th.

If you were able to decipher what I was saying (LOL) I just wanted to stress how wonderful the maternal fetal medicine doc was for me and how I really encourage others in a similar situation to see one as well. Fingers crossed for you!!!

    Hi,
I think a Maternal Fetal MD is a great idea! I had no idea that there are different levels of maternity units although I guess I should have known. I'm looking around for a Level 3a, b or c -- I wanna be ready for anything!

I have my ultrasound tomorrow to see how my babies are doing. I hope that my little baby A is still there and that little B has it's own heartbeat. I'm sure that baby C is okay :-)
