Hey ladies... I had a follow up growth scan yesterday (30 weeks) and my Twin A (Olivia) has fallen to the 5th percentileThey are planning to do doppler scans weekly to monitor her health and in 3 weeks another growth scan... If she hasnt improved we will discuss delivery at that time...
26 weeks- Baby A was 1lb 10oz (16th percentile) so still small but within safe range)
30 Weeks- Baby A was 2lbs 6oz (5th percentile)
They said that the difference between the two isnt cause for concern at all... because obviously they ARE seperate babies in seperate placentas... but just for a reference
26 Weeks- Baby B 1lb 14oz (60th percentile)
30 weeks- Baby B 3lb 2oz (22nd percentile)
Has anyone else experienced this? I only know one other person that has dealt with this and the outcome was delivery at 34 weeks... but she also had alot of preterm issues as well. My cervix is longgggg and closed.
I am now on strict bedrest... Which is fine... but Ive been sick with a cold thats had me in bed the last week anyways... So I just feel like that shouldve helped some too if bedrest was going to help ya know? Even the OB said she wasnt real hopeful about bedrest increasing the weight... I myself have gained 8 lbs since 26 weeks so Its not like I dont eat... Just seems that my little Celina (Baby B) is stealin all the goods!![]()

Possible IUGR?

I had some growth issues with Patrick, but mainly due to my blood pressure issues. I drank an Ensure shake every night, to help get in some extra "healthy" calories. He was still a bit small for full term, but his pedi wasn't worried, although the post partum unit nurses put the fear of God into us over making sure he ate beause he was "so small" according to them. He was 6lb 4 oz at birth and came home at 5lbs9oz 4 days later.

A friend of mine had twins in October and one baby was growth restricted, though they first detected problems at the 18 week ultrasound. At the 30 week growth scan, they discovered he had not grown in 2 weeks so they delivered her a couple days later- after the steroid shot- at 31 weeks. He was 1 lb 15 oz and the other baby (a girl) was 3 lbs 15 oz!
During my pregnancy, they discovered at 32 weeks that there was a significant size disparity between my girls, so I had another growth scan at 35 weeks. She had definitely continued to grow, and I was having biweekly NSTs by then. They were born at 38 weeks- one at 6 lbs 9 oz and the other at 5 lbs 1 oz. I think the concern is if she would stop growing they would deliver, or if she is in distress. I was advised to relax and lay on my left side as much as possible, though I was not on bedrest.
Good luck!

I hope your baby girl starts growing better. I hear it's fairly common w/twins, but i hope it doesn't get to the point where you have to be induced. Is that why they're doing so many NST's? I haven't had any...hmmm
you're in my thoughts, hopefully it all works out
