Hi everyone, I would like to join you here. I'm exactly 8 weeks today with twins. This is an IVF pregnancy with Donor Eggs and Sperm as I am 46 years old and single. I just couldn't give up on the one dream of being a Mom that I've had all my life and knew would make my life complete and without babies there would always be something missing.
So, here I am. My due date is August 24th but that's a full term 40 week pregnancy. According to the calculator, anything beyond August 2nd at 36 weeks is full term for twins.
My first ultrasound was at 6 weeks 5 days and my next one is next week at exactly 9 weeks. I'm excited to see babies in there as the first u/s was little blobs with heartbeats inside sacs. All good though, that's what was supposed to be there.
I've been lucky so far, no nausea and no fatigue. I'm doing great up to this point and take each day as a blessing of one less day of symptoms if I do get started on them. How has everyone else done? Any nausea or vomiting? When did it start? When did it stop?
I'm glad to see I have a few of you in front of me so I get to hear your stories and know what to expect.
Looking forward to sharing this multiples journey with you all!

I haven't had the expanding waistline yet although the IVF hormones put 8 lbs on me before I ever even got started. So, I'm taking that into account that I already have some "extra" on board when my jeans don't fit as comfortably as before.
Glad to hear you are symptom free as well. I am most definitely enjoying that. I am NOT hungry at all at this stage. I force myself to eat because it's time to eat and try to do healthy yogurt and fruit "snack" meals in between and lots of protein for my main meals. I was eating lots of veggies and now just don't want them. They wouldn't make me sick or anything, I just don't find anything I think of eating appealing. I guess that's good so I'm not expanding long before I should be!

Welcome and Congratulations! I had A LOT of nausea first trimester, I only got sick twice, but couldn't eat barely anything. I had gained weight from all the IVF drugs as well, and lost them in the first trimester, I've only put on a total of 3 pounds (and am at 17 w 1 d). The nausea started at around 8ish weeks and lasted until 12 weeks (the last morning of my first trimester was the worst!). So far, I have loved how quickly twin pregnancies show compared to regular. I wanted to look pregnant so bad (a visual reminder that it did indeed work and I was pregnant), and at 14 weeks my belly popped out. I'm still waiting to feel my babies moving around in there, but I know that's coming soon.
Research study on frozen eggs, no embryos made it. 9/2010
IVF/ICSI 10/2010 2 embryos transferred, b/g twins born 5/2011

Jessica,
I'm hoping that I don't repeat your 8 to 12 week sickness, but I have had other women tell me theirs started at 8 weeks, so I know I'm not beyond that yet.
I'm glad you are feeling better though.
I'm like you, I want to see that baby bump. I'm so excited about that happening and have seen belly picture threads on here where women started showing early and some not until much later at 18 weeks. Every day I look at my belly to see if there is anything there yet. I am taking weekly pictures of my belly now too just so I can watch the progression. I started last week at 7 weeks. It will be fun to see my belly "pop out" like I've heard from so many others. I'm hoping for boy girl twins too but of course will be happy no matter what I have.
I think the visual will help make it more real for my friends and family too. Even though several know I'm pregnant, I don't think it's really hit them yet or at least isn't as "real" as it is for me.
I'm looking forward to getting to know you better and sharing this with you. Have you started shopping for the nursery yet?
I've been thinking about how I would decorate a nursery for a boy and girl twin set. I have 2 rooms for them once they grow up but will put them in the same room as suggested for at least the first 3 years. I think having a mixed nursery that has a boy side and a girl side would be so much fun to decorate.

OMB - I had some coworkers teasing me in the beginning of my pregnancy b/c I wanted to show so bad - they kept telling me to just wait and by the end of the pregnancy I would be wishing I wasn't showing so much, lol. I'm loving the belly and this pregnancy is such a blessing that I don't care how big and uncomfortable I get, as long as my babies are healthy! We've started looking at nursery stuff. I love frogs, so we are doing the nursery yellow, with a frog theme, I'm almost finished on a frog quilt that will be a wall hanging and already have numerous frog decorations and toys for the babies. Not sure how we're going to fit everything in the nursery though as it is a very small room and already has bunk beds in it... should be interesting! Still working on names as well, have a girl name picked out but DH & I cannot decide on a boy's name (or we decide on one and then a friend has a baby and names him that, that's happened twice in the last month). Girl's name is Annabelle May and boy's name has progressed from William Charles, to Dominik Robert, to now we're thinking Emmett Charles, but DH doesn't know if Emmett sounds "strong" enough... Looking forward to getting to know you better as well and hope your pregnancy continues to go smoothly

Cute on the frog theme. I'm really thinking of mixing but not matching and having 2 very distinct areas of the nursery for each. There are even 2 windows so 2 separate valances. Blue for the boy but I like the Marine blue or Cadet blue I think they call it and Raspberry for the girl. Of course, I'll end up just falling in love with something and getting that.
I have a decent size room to hold both as it would hold a Queen size bed, dresser and hutch along with a nightstand as that's what is in the other guest room now.
I'm already planning the boy girl nursery when I don't even know that I'm having one of each yet. Just excited about that day when I find out for sure.
I like your names. Emmett is strong like Emmett Smith the football player. William, Robert and Charles are good strong names too.
I was sleeping last week and woke up in the middle of the night and out of no where had come up with my girl name. Lianna Pronounced LEE ANNA. I'll use my middle name, which is a family name that has been passed on to me. So, it will be Lianna Dagmar. For the boy, I came up with Pierce a long time ago. It's my Great Grandfather's name and one day it just popped in my head too and I knew it was right. No middle name for Pierce yet. My Dad's family is from the Czech Republic and that is where Dagmar came from. I want a Czech middle name for my boy too. I just have to work on that one. I was thinking of using my Dad's real name (he changed it when he came to the US) it's Vaslav. I just need to look up more names and decide what will go best with Pierce. I also like the name Zachary. So I have 2 boy names.
Like you, I'll get through what ever I need to so my babies are healthy when they come. I'm eating well and taking care of myself and if it ever warms up here and Atlanta thaws out, I'll get out and start walking around the neighborhood again and going to the gym just to stay active and get some light cardio in.

MarineBaby, thanks for the welcome and I look forward to sharing stories with you too. Seems will be going through this right together. I have indigestion (especially yesterday after eating a breakfast burrito....won't make that mistake again!). No nausea though and I'm only tired if I really over do it, then my body just says go lay down and I do. I feel just physically wiped out, not sleepy though. it's a weird feeling, but I know it's my body telling me to stop and rest so I listen.
I'm glad to hear that your pregnancy has been easy so far too. I was worried about double nausea and vomiting with twins and instead got NONE...YEAH!
i hope everyone had a good week and will enjoy a good weekend.
