Thoughts Needed- Baby B Struggling
Went for my 3rd u/s today at RE's office.
First u/s at 5w5d showed 2sacs. Baby A was about 4 times larger than Baby B. Second u/s at 6w5d- 2 sacs, one baby with h/b, other sac no heartbeat. I was told Baby B would likely not develop. Today- 3rd u/s at 7w5d. Baby A had a heartbeat of 156, and was measruring 13 (milimeters I guess?). Baby B had a heartbeat, but only was 98, and was measuring 4. I was told they want the hb over 120 to be vaiable, and that the size was very small. I was also told that Baby B is measuring almost 2 weeks behind Baby A. This roller coaster is killing me. First- you're having twins, then you are likely only having one, now we are back to 2, but I was told that chances are slim of Baby B surviving. I need some thoughts here. Good stories, or not so good stories. I go back next week for another scan...

Hey, Hun Congrats on twins
![]() Baby B is prob behind on dates because baby A was fertilised earlier. Meaning baby A implanted just as baby B was being fertilised, the fact that baby B has a heart beat is good news, 98 is low but now low were they can say baby B wont make it. At your next scan baby B may just have a stronger heart beat so i would not worry or stress out There is still Hope ![]() If baby B is smaller than baby A then it sounds like i am right, that baby A implanted just as Baby b was being fertilised which was make sence to baby A being 2 weeks a head, That means that baby B is only round 6 wks there for a hb at 6wks at 98beats per minute is quite good and will improve to get stronger. I found this ... MATERIALS AND METHODS: Institutional review board approval was granted; informed consent was not required. The study was Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act compliant. Singleton pregnancies with an embryonic heart rate measured on a 6.0–7.0-week US scan were identified. The heart rate was classified as slow if it was fewer than 90 beats per minute prior to 6.3 weeks. Baby B is two weeks behind in size than baby A making baby B 6 wks pg thats why on first scan baby A h/b was detected but baby B was not. Because baby B was a late implanter and still growing. Baby B has 98 bpm So this is good its not under than 90 bpm its 2 beats away from 100bpm so there is still hope sweetie. Try to relax fx for your next scan, praying both babies are thriving healthy

So I just posted this for someone else..i hope it can help you!!!!!
So back in April 08 DH and I did our first IUI. We got our BFP!! Betas were 14dpiui 117 16dpiui 221 19dpiui 806 At 5w4d I went for my first u/s. They saw an empty gest sac. Thats it, no yolk, no pole, just empty sac. RE said that it was most likely a chemical pg and that i may miscarry but to come back in a week. At 6w3d DH and i went for u/s #2 and we saw a hb!!! YAY! THen the tech looked further and saw another "area" which she tagged as a "bleed" since it was mishapen and empty, so it "couldnt be another viable sac" ok......so at 8w i go back for my last scan and to be released from my RE and TWO HB's!!!!!!!!!! That was no bleed! Then of course they follow it up with, well, baby b's sac is too small and the baby is measuring behind so it is probably not viable. So i go to my OB that night, in tears, who informs me that they are crazy and the baby is fine. Well, yep my "baby b" might be smaller than his brother (to this day) but he is very much here and wonderful! Please do not give up hope yet! **My whole pg baby b measured "about a week" behind baby a. My peri and OB were fine with it and concluded that baby a was a product of the iui while baby b was a "natural" conception after the fact. (so much for that lady in the news concieving 2 weeks later-it seems more common then she thinks lol!) Anyway, it seems like your baby b may just be younger. HB's start out slower then get faster. Try not to give up hope yet! |

Thanks for everyone's kind words. I did a FET- so I know there is no hope for a 'natural' pregnancy. I was on lupron for about 8 weeks, so there is no way I ovulated, and my dh and I were on a strict ban- so they were defintely conceived at the same time.
Thanks for the positive thoughts. Looks like I am just going to have to wait- which is the worst part...

Did you have 2 embryos put back on fet or just one ?
Because if you had just one then your baby can still be younger e.g splitting just as it was in blast stage ? Other than that even if you did have 2 embies transfared, your little one has a h/b of 98bpm and according to research thats not bad at all. Under this then there is cause for concern but like i said your little one is 2 beats away from 100bpm which is great, Boys have lower h/bs than girls so they have researched lately. Fx baby B is just fine at your next scan, No matter what happens you have a beautiful strong h/b on baby A Hugs xx

I had 2 day 5 blasts put back in.
U/s tech said at 7w5d, I should be over 120. So, I just have to wait. We'll see what happens. I am happy Baby A is doing well. Just concerned. Baby B is a quarter of the size of Baby A- which is another reason they are concerned. Waiting, waiting, waiting...
