is this possible??

So, u/s at 6w1d showed one fetal pole w/yolk sac and good HB and also showed one empty sac (did IVF). Doc said that the sac would just reabsorb, but u/s at 7w1d showed that there is now an embryo in the sac, fetal pole with no yolk sac and no HB, measuring 1/2 size of the other one. Doc typed "baby B???" on the u/s screen. Is it possible for one to be that far behind? She is pretty sure that it will not be viable. Just wondering if anyone had any success stores regarding a similar case. My next u/s is next week and very anxious to find out. Any insight would help, thanks!!

Hi krose, for my baby b at 5wks5d we saw an empty sac (measuring 2 days behind) and baby a was a sac with a yolk. At my next u/s at 7wk0d we saw two HB. I have heard that twins can be up to a week apart and still be fine (and then there is that crazy story out now about the woman who has twins 2 1/2 weeks apart who got pregnant while pregnant!). I would see what the next u/s shows. When is it? I would think if by 9 weeks there is no HB then it's not going to be viable. Good luck!

well viable twins can be usually upt to 1 week apart-when you say half of the other-how much did it measure in weeks and days compared to the other?

with my ds, the 2nd sac stopped growing at 8 weeks, but was always behind, so we didnt have much hope. I did see some catch up though! I guess its a waiting game!

Thanks Ladies! I guess I will just have to wait it out and see. My next appt is 10/7. The doc didn't tell me how many wks baby B was measuring, but I saw that it was .55 cm when baby A at 7w1d was 1 cm. I was thinking of that story with the lady who had conceived while pregnant and thought to myself, well my DH and I did have sex early on in pregnancy, lol!

kk-that would be the joke of life to get pg while already pg from ivf!
45mm seems a pretty big difference, I think that would be more than a week, but crossing fingers that it goes through a growth spurt until next u/s!!

Hey Due Date Buddy!

I am in the same situation and I do not know what to think.

Today was 6w6d and we had:

1 sack that measured 5w5d

1 babe at 6w4d that had a heartbeat.

I just dont know what to think. I was told that the one should have been able to seen already. I am just confused.

9w u/s showed only one baby with good HB 175. Baby B was nowhere to be found, so it must have reabsorbed or miscarried. We are just blessed to have at least one healthy baby.

I know how you feel... we still do not know what will happen with our baby b.. but we are just remembering that we are blessed to have one.

I pray that baby A remains strong and healthy!

kkrose - I am glad you have a healthy baby. May be it was for the best.
I am in the same situation as you are but I am in the 10th week and my smaller twin is still growing, but lagging behind. My RE does not think it will be viable, and has referred me to a Peri for monitoring. There are chances that Baby B could linger around for long time and possibly risking A and the pregnancy. I am just hoping I get a definitive result soon.
