Frequency of Ultrasounds

Hey ladies, How often does your OB order u/s? I was hoping to have one at least every 2 weeks especially since my insurance will pay 100%, I hope it will ease my mind.

Carolsue

Congratulations on your twin pregnancy, Carolsue! How exciting. :-)

I'm 20 weeks pregnant with twins and have an ultrasound at every appt with my regular OB about every 4 weeks. I had a detailed scan at 11 weeks and then again at 18 weeks with the peri. I will continue to have detailed growth scans every 4 weeks with the peri. I think after 28 weeks, the growth scans will become more frequent, as well as the regular scans/appts with the OB.

I have a growth scan done every 4 weeks and see my regular OB every 2 weeks. OB increased since week 28. Before that it was every month.

Thanks for the response ladies, the wait just drives me bonkers. I assumed they would be a little closer together especially at my age. I suppose I will find out next Wed at my 3 month visit, I may ask her if I can get one every 2 weeks since my insurance pays at 100%

I only see a Peri and have an ultrasound every week. He only checks growth every 2-4 weeks though. The rest of the time it's just a quick heartbeat check. I think it's faster for them to do it that way than to try and find both with the doppler.

I had complications at first that required weekly appointments. Was later switched to every two weeks, and am now back to every week. It's a pain, but so far so good.

I had a NT scan at 12 weeks, another one is scheduled for 16 weeks to check the cervix, and then 20 weeks they told me will be a detailed one where they look at everything, will take about and hour. Don't know what happens after that with the scans. these are all done by maternal-fetal specialsits, and I have OB visits in between, she does not do ulstrasounts, just doppler. Between the two, I get to see them every two weeks for now.

Congrats!

I had one every 4 weeks. And a doc appt every 4 weeks, which meant I was seen every 2 weeks. I was seen exclusively by a peri.

I work in the medical field, and covered at 100% may only mean if it's medically necessary. They may deny it if they (which means some nurse at the insurance co.) if they don't feel, or the coding by the doc, does not indicate that it's medically necessary. Just putting that out there...

Jan-That's true, maybe they won't but my DH's company that he works for is self insured and Empire BC/BS just handles the paperwork (it is really good). I had some bleeding at 7 weeks exactly and that is why they did some of the u/s's. I go this Wed for my 3 month but I fell today pretty hard on a concrete driveway and I want to make sure they are alright, if they do seee me it will only by 2 days early. I just figured since I was carrying twins and I'm kinda old they would see me a little more frequent.
