Please help, Twin Moms! 22dp3dt and my beta is only 4445.

Hello Ladies who are expecting twins. I have beautiful 1-year old twins from IVF and am pregnant again after my embryo transfer at the end of July.

I've been worried this entire time that my betas started off low and have not been doubling appropriately. Today, I'm 22dp3dt, and here are my betas for this pregnancy:

12dp3dt = 238 / 28.5
15dp3dt = 583 / 51 (56 hr doubling time)
17dp3dt = 985 / 57 (64 hr doubling time)
19dp3dt = 2017 / 52 (47.39 hr doubling time)
22dp3dt = 4445 / 57.5 (64 hour doubling time)

My beta doubling times have been high 50s-low 60s, which has freaked me out. I only had one good doubling time last week. Plus, in my opinion my beta values are really low for this stage. I had a first u/s last Friday to rule out an ectopic. There was no ectopic that they could see, and there was one intrauterine gestational sac. Today (Monday), they saw 2 gestational sacs. The larger sac had just started to develop a yolk sac (thank God). The smaller sac is about 3 days behind. I don't understand this. I was so concerned that my numbers were low and had not doubled appropriately for a healthy pregnancy, but now that there are two sacs, my numbers are for sure WAY LOW and not doubling appropriately, especially for a twin pregnancy!

Does anyone have a similar experience with a positive outcome (low beta values and betas not doubling for a twin pregnancy)?

My betas from my healthy twin pregnancy in 2007 were:

10 days post 3 day transfer: 235
12 days post 3 day transfer 451 (51 hours doubling time)
14 days post 3 day transfer: 1059 (38.98 doubling time)
17 days post 3 day transfer: 3161 (46 hours doubling time)
19 days post 3 day transfer: 5890 (53.5 hours doubling time)
21 days post 3 day transfer: 11033 (53 hours doubling time)
24 days post 3 day transfer: 21753 (73 hours doubling time)

My beta back then were about tripled to what they are currently. Do you think the smaller second sac is not going to make it? Why did it grow over the weekend and just appear today?

Please give me your honest opinions. Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So one sac is 3 days behind the other... well, I have heard of that happening. Have you looked at betabase? It sounds like you are on top of the betas. In my pregnancy, I have only had one beta (11dp5dt was 363). What does your RE say? Could it be a vanishing twin? There was a woman in my cycle group who had that- her betas were pretty off.

Good luck.

Check to be sure your betas are being sent to the same lab, I have heard of differences related to that. Otherwise, I think you should focus on the positive; your betas are steadily rising. Since beta values cannot be relied upon to indicate the health or nature of a pg, only the existance of one, I think you should try not to read into it any further than that. I know that's easier said than done. This early, it's pretty common to have a sac develop a few days behind another. Even though they were introduced into the uterus at the same time, they may have implanted at different times (which might contribute to the skewed beta issue). I hope that your next u/s provides you with the answers you need/want. Congratulations on your pg, and good luck!
