OB/GYN and/or Peri?
My RE recommended both a peri and a few OB/GYNs when he released me. I made an appt w/ the OB for now.
He gave me the impression I should be seeing one of each...but what's the difference? What will the peri do that my OB/GYN does not? I picked the OB/GYN I did because they supposedly specialize in high-risk. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I see both. My regular visits are with the OB, and then I see the peri for the more detailed ultrasounds, the genetics testing, etc.

I only see a peri. I know some women see both, but I felt like it was just easier to only have one person managing my care.

I have mostly seen my OB but went to a peri for my 20 week ultrasound and then more recently have started to see them more because of my cervix starting to shorten up some. I chose both so I was sure I had a peri on board just in case something wasn't going exactly right that I would need more monitoring/care for.
Congrats on the twins! |

I am seeing a peri. The peri will do everything the OB will do, but in case of complications, you won't have to go to a new person. One person manages my care, as formerly sam said. I prefer that. Good luck and congrats!

I went only to a peri. I started with triplets, but decided to stay with my doctor because 1) I really liked him and he said I could and 2) my friend had recently lost her twins at 24 weeks, and I felt more comfortable with the extra monitoring/high risk aspect. As it turns out I did have some complications and I'm glad I stayed with the peri group.

I have seen both throughout my entire pregnancy. My primary care is covered by the OB and they will be the one to deliver. However, the peri does more detailed u/s and monitoring and sends all results to my OB. The peri does not deliver so you still have to have an OB. My OB doesn't give the option of one or the other. If you are pg with multiples you automatically have to see both.
