My husband and I had settled on buying two Graco Snugrides because they fit babies from 5 - 32 pounds and we thought we'd be able to get the most out of our money from them.
However, on Friday night, we went to Babies R Us to have a look around and one of the sales associates (who also happened to be a La Leche Leader and a car sear tech) told us that the Graco Snugride might not be the best option if our babies are tiny. She recommended the Chicco Keyfit (http://www.chiccousa.com/gear/car-s...2-coventry.aspx) which only fits babies from 4 -22 pounds. The Chicco is $50 more (so $100 more total) if we were to go with that one. I'm just not sure it's worth the extra money. What are the rest of you buying for your twins?

Honestly....I wouldn't do it. There is a very slim chance that your babies will be home at 4 lbs. And if they only go up to 22 lbs.....there is the chance that you will outgrown them earlier than you expect.
I would definitely get an infant seat....not just a convertible. But I don't think the extra $100 is worth it.

We used the graco snugride for our twins and loved them. They're light weight and snap easily into the base and the stroller if you get that as well. Our babies came home 2 days after birth weighing 4 1/2 and 7 1/2 lbs. We used these with no problems until they were almost 1.
Good luck and congrats!! |

We used the snugrides too, my twins outgrew them at 8 months but they showed us in the NICU before we left how to use blankets to keep them secure. I would get the snugrides.

I have the Chicco Keyfit for my son...and don't like it. It's heavy and he's always uncomfortable in it...for some reason the seat is narrower than in the graco's...I plan to get a Graco for my 2nd.

My twins came home at 6lb 8oz and 4 lb 13oz in snugrides and did just fine! Our hosp requires a car seat test before sending "small or pre term" infants home. They strapped the boys in and left them for an hour with the oxygen monitors on to make sure they were safe and they were fine. I love my snugrides! |

We bought the Chicco seats. I have several friends who have used them and loved them. I had a graco with my first dd and hated it...mostly beause she hated it. The only thing is that I am having seond thoughts because there aren't any double strollers that two Chicco's will fit in. I keep debating about selling my Chiccos and getting snugrides so that I can get the duoglider. Really not sure what I will do.

We bought two Graco Safeseats (lowest weight was 5 lbs) and DD (who weighed about 4 lbs) didn't pass her carseat test and went home in a hospital-loaned car bed. Once she hit 5 lbs (about a month later), she was retested, and "graduated" to the Graco. So I wouldn't worry about the weight limit. If they're small, they may have to be in a car bed anyway.

I wish we would have went with the Snug Rides. We got the Graco Safe Seats and they are sooo huge and heavy. I was also looking for something that would last but now that the twins are getting some weight on them its hard to carry them anymore. But I do love the Graco system - we have the Quattro Tour Duo and its wonderful.
