Freaking out

Just got the news from the first u/s... I am having Triplets! I am in shock. Was not expecting it at all! I am on special prenatal now with extra iron pill. I am also to go back to OB in a week or two and then at 12weeks I am going to the hospital for "really good u/s with experts". OB is all worried and said there is big risk...he hasn't had triplets in ten years. So ya one fraternal and two identical. I don't know what to think at this point...Nurse said just take it one day at a time and I think that is exactly what I need to do!
I am only 6 1/2 weeks and they said we still have to worry about them all sticking...any advice or information on triplets would be greatly appreciated!

My triplets are now 4 years old. If your OB has not delivered triplets in 10 years I would really recommend find a perinatologist who will be better for you. A triplet pregnancy is no joke and is NOWHERE near similar to a regular pregnancy. You may even be able to see your OB and a perinatologist.

You may want to check out the book by Barabra Luke who is basically the expert on triplet pregnancies. You may be able to find it at your local library or someone on here my have one to give you. Also head over to www.tripletconnection.org It is a forum just like this one but geared towards those of us with mulitples. You will get lots of good advice and experience from them. You will also probably hook up with women who are as far along as you.

Congratulations!! You will have a wild ride but enjoy it!!

Thanks for replying Susan! I was beginning to think I was alone! It is so good to hear that your triplets are healthy and you got through it! I am going to a specialist but also OB until we can get an appointment. Thanks for the book advice...will look for that at the book store!

I have g/g/g triplets that will turn 3 on June 15th. I found out I was pregnang with them at 5w and we heartbeats at that time too. We were warned that one or two could vanish but they all stuck it out.

They were born at 35w5d. I was on home uterine monitoring from 17-weeks which I think was great in keeping track of things. I was contracting and didn't even know it then.

I agree with Suzan, get a good peri, especially if your dr. hasn't delivered triplets in 10 years! You'll want someone up to speed on the most current treatments etc.

While my pregnancy was "boring" (no complications, bedrest etc.) each pregnancy is different and completely unpredictable.

Best of luck to you! If I can answer questions or whatever, feel free to ask!
