13 weeks and spotting

All day today I'm noticing a bit of brown discharge on my pantyliner. I have no cramps, but of course I'm freaking out and wondering if I should go to the ER. I'm discharged from my fertility clinic and I see my OB on Tuesday. Is this common at 13 weeks? Should I wait until Tuesday or go to the ER today?

I read that spotting with multiples is common, is this true?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, spotting during a multiple pregnancy is fairly common, so although it's still scary chances are everything is fine. I don't think a trip to the ER is warranted, especially since the spotting is old blood and not new. I'm glad that you have an appointment on Tuesday because they will likely do an ultrasound and that will hopefully ease your mind about what's going on in there.

Thanks for the reassurance. Earlier this afternoon there was a dab of red pinkish blood - I almost fainted, but I don't really know what ER can do for me. After that it continued to be brown blood. I feel fine, there's no cramping, so I'm going to take it easy today, take off work tomorrow and then Tuesday I have my appointment.

This is sooooo scary - all I can do right now is pray that all is well with the babies.

Yes I think it will be a good idea if you relax until your appointment, maybe you can call them and get in sooner perhaps just to ease your mind some. KUP on how it goes

Spotting is very common with multiples......I had spotting with my boys' at 13 weeks, and they were/are fine......big strapping boys' now.

I think I would just really take it easy until you see your doc this week......feet up, and not do much of anything.

You will be in my thoughts.

I'm really looking forward to my doctor's appointment tomorrow. This morning there was quite a bit of brown blood, it's tapered off a bit, but I fear the worst.

I'll keep you updated tomorrow.

Brooklyne,
Hang in there - I am sure all is fine! My RE says if no cramping then no reason for concern. I had gushing red blood around 11 weeks and 2 other episodes before that one. It scared me to death! I am preg w/ a singleton and I have heard that multiples do have more spotting. Brown means old blood so it is clotting up. My RE thought mine was from a blood vessel bursting or it could be a small clot. Let us know how the appt goes tomorrow!!! Congrats on twins!!!

Thanks to everyone who replied!

I had my first OB visit yesterday. Everything looks perfect! Both babies were bouncing around all over the place. It was so beautiful to see. We're also 99.9% sure of the gender of one baby - A BOY! I stopped spotting yesterday, but today I'm spotting a touch, but it must be from the physical exam.

Things are looking good!
