Where do you feel your babies move??

Hey guys, quick question here. I am 21 weeks along and for about the last 3 weeks have been able to feel the babies pretty well. But when I feel them it is always below the belly button and a majority of the time it feels like they are moving so low that they are in my bladder. I was just curious when you start to feel them a little higher. With my DS all I remember is feeling him way up high almost in my ribs and am wondering why the twins are still so low. Should they be higher at this point or is this normal for how many weeks along I am??

Christi

Hey Taylorbees
I'm 26 weeks with twins and have felt them since probably 19 weeks. They have been everywhere but initially both babies heads were low and all their feet were just below my right rib cage so I thought only one baby was kicking me when actually it was both of them.

Since then one of them has turned (probably last 2 weeks) and now one pair of feet are below my belly button and the other set is still in the same place.

According to doc and lab tech, there is still room for them to flip flop around. As long as you have pretty consistent movement throughout the day, I wouldn't worry they are kicking you (unless it hurts!)

Congrats!

Hi Christi -- at 21 weeks I believe your uterus is typically barely above your belly button. With twins it is probably slightly higher, but depending on how your particular pregnancy is, it may not be much higher. (For example I only measure about 3 weeks ahead, which is only 3cm -- about 2 fingerwidths.)

I'm 30 weeks today and I do feel them in the ribs now -- but I didn't at 21 weeks.

Congrats on your twin pregnancy...

Where you feel them totally depends on their position. Actually at this stage they might be doing somersaults in there, because they have a lot of room, so it might change each day.

I agree with Poppan, your uterus is not that big (29 weeks singleton almost) and it is normal to feel them low... however, once they get bigger, they will start hooking their feet on your ribs... I woke up so sore on my ribs one day, I was sure I broke it or I damaged my lungs. I felt like someone pinched it all day long... Of course, I called my doctor and he said "it's probably one of the babies, hooking up his feet"... I am glad that his feet cannot fit in there anymore :-)

I am 33.5 weeks now, both head down... most movement is up since that's where the feet is... feels like I have an octopus in there...

Enjoy the movements... to me that's the best part of a twin pregnancy.

Any chance you have anterior placentas? I had two anterior placentas and felt all movement low early on. I started feeling them consistently around 20 weeks.

I agree with BBB- feeling them is the best part of a twin pregnancy. After I had PROM I was so reassured just by feeling them do gymnastics in there!

Milkyrn - I think that could be a possibility. I go back for a growth scan on April 5th and I will ask them then. I noticed that if I put my hand on my stomach up higher I can feel them from the outside but not on the inside.
