Twin gestational sacs - different sizes!

I am now 7 weeks with fraternal IVF twins.

One of the sacs is twice as large as the other. They both have a yolk sac, fetal pole, and visible heartbeats on ultrasound yesterday.

Is this normal to have such a variance in size? Is this of concern?

Neutro

Hi Neutro,

There have been many posts on this same topic on this board so if you do a search you'll find them.

But to answer your question, my twins measured all over the map for the first couple of USs and I delivered 2 very healthy girls (a bit preemie but healthy nonetheless!).

Try not to worry (although I know this is hard!) and CONGRATS!

mine measured very differently the 1st couple of weeks. OB even warned us, not to get our hopes up for a "twin" pregnancy. I also had bleeding...

After 12 weeks, everyone was on board. Cruising along... getting my tummy to sizes that was never imagined

Now they are both 3lbs5oz each at 28 week gestation... Eat well, be calm. Try not to read too much into everything. Unfortunately, IVF people become medical experts and we google too much

Yes, twins can measure differently - and U/s measurements vary as well. The day I delivered the radiologist told me I would have a little girl weighing in at 6.2 and a little guy at 5.9 - my two were born just 4 hours later, my dd at 4.9, my ds at 3.9.

I would guess that you (and your two!) are doing fine!
