Stitch in upper right side

Hi there:

I have had a "stitch" in my upper right side for awhile now (say, 7 hours?) just like the ones you get when you go for a run or exercise. Has anyone else had this? I don't think it's round ligament pain, b/c it's so high up.

Any thoughts?

I get this occasionally though usually not for 7 hours straight unless I stay in the same position. Mine might be higher up than yours though. Mine is pretty much directly under my right breast, kind of on the rib cage.

I get this all the time. But mine are always down low and do subside after 30mins or so. It sure feels like you have run a marathon.

Sounds like it could be the position of your little ones, possibly contractions (though not for 7 continuous hours) or is it possible you might be having gall bladder issues?

Interesting...it seems to be quite random, so I almost thought it was gas or something? Thanks for your notes everyone, I'm off to the ob tomorrow so I'll ask him!

i am currently 29 wks with twins...i had a similar episode at 24 weeks...it started with right groin pain that i thought was round lig pain. then i started to get a "stitch" in my right side...right over my hip bone. it got worse over about 3 hours to the point that i had to sit down and felt nausea...i broke down and called the dr (i thought i was dehydrated from a cold i had) and he said to go to L & D to be monitored. when they put me on the monitor i was having uterine irritability (mini contractions) that i didn't feel. both babies looked good, but he admitted me to the perinatal intensive care unit for further monitoring and ultrasound. they thought my cervix was starting to "funnel" and that isn't good with irritability or contractions at 24 weeks. ultrasound showed my cervix was fine, but i was in the hospital for 6 days, did have contractions in there and was treated with breathine and procardia. i have been home on modified bedrest since.

i guess the moral of the story is...don't wait...get checked! you don't want your babies coming early. hope everything is ok at ob...don't want to scare you, but i almost ignored the symptoms (i'm a nurse and we tend to blow stuff off when it comes to our own bodies) and made excuses for why i was hurting.

take care,
amber
