Ladies,
I know there are some of you who have or are estimated to have 6lb twins. And I know that some of you are tall and so are your husbands. I am 5'9" and my dh is 6'1", so I am hiping that helps. But is there any advice you can give to me so that I can achieve these higher birth weights? Did you also gain lots of weight?
Thank you all.

I havent delivered yet, but one of my twins is estimated to weigh 5.1 pounds at 31 weeks. My other twin is only 3.45 pounds. I am 179cm tall and my hubby is 6foot. I have put on about 15 kilos but its all baby weight, my body shape around my tummy hasnt changed much.

My twins are 6 weeks old now. They were 5lbs. 13 oz and 5lbs 14 oz when they were born. I'm 5'6" and DH is 6' and I was able to have a vaginal delivery. I only gained 23 pounds total and looked all belly. I don't really know secrets for higher birth weight.....mostly to take it easy as to prevent pre-term labor. That's probably the best advice. And I had a duola praise me for eating peanut butter saying that's good for protein and weight (I never heard not to eat it to prevent allergies to peanuts/peanut butter in the kids as another thread mentions).
My sister also had twins....8 pounds each
. She's only 5'5" and gained 30-35 pounds. I don't think she did anything special other than holding out until her due date.
Congrats and Good luck!!Me 34 DH 37

I agree with JCC- the best thing to insure higher weight babies is to carry them as long as possible. I had 5 plus pound babies but they were induced a month early for severe preeclamspia. I am 5 ft 4 in. and gained 40 pounds.
So, be aware of the signs of preterm labor, take it easy if you start having contractions, and make sure your doc is monitoring you well. Ask for a referral for a peri (high risk doc) if there are any issues.
DO NOT eat peanut butter or other nuts particularly if there is any history of allergies (food, hay fever) or asthma in the family. This is from the perspective of a mom of a food allergy child.

My babies were 7 lbs and 7 lbs 11oz at birth. I was 36w3d. I followed a lot of the diet advice of Dr Barbara Luke's book. I also ate a LOT of protien and wonder if that helped. I gained 45 pounds. Dr. Luke recommended a weight gain of 40 to 50 pounds.
Some of the size of the babies certainly is determined by the size of mom and dad and the number of weeks gestation.

i had my boys at 38wks - both were 6lb.2oz. i'm 5'6" & dh is 5'11". i didn't do anything in particular to achieve higher birth weights - pretty much ate whatever i wanted & took it very easy to avoid pre-term delivery. i gained approx. 45lbs. during pg'cy & was all belly & boobs.
