I'm home!!!!!!

I finally got released this morning from the hospital after a 6 day stay. Let me say that I'm soooooo HAPPY to finally be at home. Being at the hospital sucked!!!! I'll give everyone my story so maybe some of you will know what you might (and hopefully not) be in for if you get hospitalized.

I went in Monday night becuase I was having a lot of contractions (more than 6 an hour) and a lot of them were painful. They first gave me a shot of terbutaline. If you've never had it, it makes your heat race and your whole body shaky. The terb didn't work so they put an IV in and gave me magnesium sulfate. If you've never had that, it's absolutely AWFUL!!!!!! It made me feel like crap. I couldn't focus on anything and it makes you super hot. Plus you get groggy and just feel horrible. The neonatalogist team came to talk to us just in case the I did deliver and due to the mag I couldn't even focus on the doctor. I was trying so hard to concentrate on what he was saying but I was so doped up that it looked like he was moving in front of me. They kept me on the mag until Thursday morning. Luckily, I didn't get a cather put in but I had to have constant monitoring for contractions and they monitored the babies for 20 minutes every 4 hours around the clock. It's so hard to monitor all 3 of the babies because one of them would always move off the monitor and it would take way longer than 20 minutes. I would have to lay super still and it would make my body just ache. After they took me off the mag, they monitored the babies once a day and monitored for contractions 3 times a day for an hour each. It was so nice to be able to just go to the bathroom without an IV pole and having to unhook myself from the monitors. They had me on Indocin (helps control contractions) until Friday morning. I had some contractions Friday night and they gave me more terb. Then Sat morning I had contractions and Sat night so I got 2 terb shots. The terb is awful but not as bad as mag.

I didn't think I was going to get to go home since I had contractions twice yesterday. I even had some this morning when I was on the monitor. But when I went in Monday night my cervix was 1 1/2 cm dilated and 60% effaced. Last night, my cervix was still 1 1/2 cm dilated and 80% effaced. Since the contractions don't really seem to be doing much damage they said I could go home on bedrest. I'm so glad to be home. I'm still uncomfortably pregnant but it's way better here than in the hospital.

I hope to stay out of the hospital till these babies come and hope that all of you can do the same.

Angelia

YEAH! The last I heard was from Rory about being 1 1/2 - 2 cm dialated and 80% effaced and I thought "Oh no! She is not coming home until these babies are born!" I am SOOOOOOOOOOOO glad I was wrong!!!

QUESTION:

So did they do an ultrasound on your cervix to check for length and funneling or is that really not needed since you were already effacing/dialating?

Did they do a FFN test?

Have they given you any idea how long you can expect to hold these little monkeys in there considering the slow effacement/dialation? Is your dr. still trying to shoot for 34 weeks?

Are they bumping up you OB appointments?

Okay, I think that is it! So glad you are home and are feeling happier! Belle

So glad to hear that you are home!!! I had a lovely 5 day hospital stay before when the twins were born and I understand how happy you are to be out of there. Glad they got those contractions under control. That tributaline is no fun and mag is worse but at least they worked. You and your babes will be in my thoughts and prayers

Wow hon, that's a big scare. I'm glad things are stable for the time being. Hospital stays definitely bite. Have you talked with your doc about using the terb pump to control your contractions? I am on it now and while you definitely have some side effects getting used to it at the beginning, it's nowhere near as bad as the shots, and then if they detect you having a bunch they can give you some at home, maybe avoiding going in to the hospital. I hope you have a nice long bed rest period at home!!

Very good to hear that things are stable & that you're able to be at home. I'm keeping my fingers crossed & praying that you're able to stay right there for another 4 1/2 weeks or so! Hang in there, you're doing a great job! Keep us updated!
