Maternity Clothes? (same as Oct. bb)

I have come the conclusion, this the first day of my 12th week, that I need some maternity clothing. I start water aerobics tomorrow night so the first item on my list was a bathing suit. Last night I tried on last year's suit and let me tell you, it wasn't pretty. All DH could say was RRRRiiiiiggghhhhtt. So I went in to Target over my lunch break to pick one up. I vowed to myself that I wasn't going to spend a lot of money. I ended up buying a huge black tent with granny panties to go underneath. Where in the world do you find cute maternity bathing suits?

My question is, when did you have to graduate into maternity clothes? How fast did you outgrow them? I definitely need some help! Thanks

I got my bathing suit at Motherhood Maternity. They had like three styles and weren't too outragously priced. I certainly was in maternity clothes at 12 weeks and, if I remember correctly, had to get new ones at about 28 weeks or so because I was so huge. To save $$, I purchased many of my clothes used either from Once Upon a Child (a chain that primarily carries children's items) or on e-bay. I had a lot of really NICE business clothes and casual clothes too and probably spent only $400 for two pregnancies.

If you are really looking for bargains on used clothing, you might try posting a request on the Live Auctions board on the Community Boards right here at FT.

Good luck on your search!

Diana

I think I was in maternity bottoms at about 13 weeks or so. I was lucky enough to live near an outlet mall that has a Motherhood store so I was able to find some good deals. I was due at the end of Nov. so I got some summer things and bought them a little bigger which I was glad I did. Toward the end of the summer I started just buying things as I needed them because it was so hard to tell just how fast/big I was going to get. That was around 25 weeks or so. I found that a lot of the maternity is cut shorter so toward the end of my pg (34.5 weeks) I had a hard time finding things that covered my whole belly and I ended up getting some tops at a plus size store. I normally wear a size 10 and at 33 weeks I remember buying plus size 3x's for the length and room. By the next week they just barely fit! Actually...I felt like I just wanted to cut a hole in my bedsheet and just wear that...nothing else was fitting! So... my advice to you...don't buy too much ahead of time unless you know you can exchange/return! Enjoy your pg! ~Emma
