21 weeks not feeling kick, Dr told me why..
Hi Ladies,
I just wanted to let you know that my Dr told me today why I may not be feeling my babies kick and I wanted to share this because it is very worrying when you keep reading about how you should be feeling them kick and everybody else is feeling it but you. In our previous discussion below, one person was lying to people and saying she could feel them kick when she didn't just because she felt so uncomfortable about not feeling them kick, so maybe this will save some grief?? Anyway, my OB said that my placentas are in front of my uterus, so they are cushioning the kicks so I may not feel it until the babies are bigger. It was a big relief because I was really starting to worry. Just wanted to share... Valley

Valley,
I'm not sure what you mean about the person lying but wanted to share this with you... In my first twin pg, I felt "stuff" but didn't associate it with kicking (I thought I had gas!). I later learned that that was what the kicking felt like (tiny bubbles or fluttering) and I didn't feel it consistently. In my second twin pg, I knew what to "feel" and felt the first flutters around 14wks but then nothing for about 3 weeks and nothing consistently until 22wks or so. By 26wks there will be no mistaking what you are feeling (even with your anterior placentas) and you'll wonder what body part you just felt. Give it some time and you'll feel it. It is one of the things I miss the most about not being pg anymore, so really treasure it when you feel them!

Hi Ladies,
I was referring to someone's response to my other post about feeling your babies kick. One mother could not feel the babies kick and would lie and tell other mothers she could to avoid the horrified looks. I just referred to that because it is such a source of anxiety to feel that you are not experiencing what you should be like other people. I do hope I helped eased some minds. I was getting worried about not feeling kicks but now I can relax because I know why. I have had strange gas pains and twitches, though and I am sure that is some kind of activity down there! Thanks for your insight. Valley |
