I'm Rh negative and have had two second tri losses due to IC. The second of which I hemorrhaged badly afterward. During the next pregnancy I was told that due to the loss of blood the Rhogam shot didn't work and I had had been sensitized. They gave it to me anyway because the titer wasn't that high. Our daughter had growth issues in utero and was born 5 weeks early, not because of the Rh issue...or so they think.
Fast forward three years. I just had a MC at 5.5w. Everything looked great on ultrasound and with my hcg numbers. This was a frozen embryo transfer so I had plenty of hormone support. There really is no obvious reason for the hemorrhaging this time or for the MC so I'm puzzled. When I told my fertility specialist I had been sensitized he coudln't believe it and did a Coombs test just to make sure. We were both shocked when it came back showing no antibodies. I couldn't believe it. How could I have them while pregnant last time, and then not have them now? I thought once sensitized, always sensitized.

I am not clear on it either. My two cents... I am Rh- with 5 early pg losses and one live birth (of Rh+ babe). Not all of my Rhogam shots were timed well. For 1 pg loss my PCP forgot entirely to administer it. Just as well I suppose as blood products have risk too. I was told to wait a certain period after the pg before testing for sensitivity because otherwise I could get a false positive. I read that false positives can also be caused by pg(?), certain illnesses (e.g. mono), prescription drugs, and blood transfusions. I got a false positive when I was given the test too soon after a Rhogam shot (ironic). I hope you get better input. Wishing you well...

Interesting. Maybe like you said it was just a false positive the first time. My body went kind of bananas when I Was pg with our DD. I also tested positive for Lupus and for Protein S....both of which came in neg after pg, although barely negative. Hopefully our RE can shed a little light on the situation before we spend the money on another FET cycle.

That reminds me, I had severe chicken pox as a child, but a 2008 test showed no immunity --- the RE shrugged the test result off, but it was in the back of my mind b/c we want to leave no stone unturned. It was tested again in 2010 and I was immune. Huh? So I have better peace of mind, but my confidence in this stuff is iffy. This hardly seems like science to me.
Wishing you whatever peace of mind (and/or appropriate treatment) you can get (or have).
