Went in to talk to my RE about the blood work I had to do IUI with donor sperm. My day three FSH was 15.2 I did five days of Clomid and had second FSH of 15.9.
He thinks the odds are stacked high against me getting pregnant with my eggs. He stated we could give it a try but felt my chances were better to just to an unmediated cycle with donor sperm and hope to great timing. He even felt my odds were slim to do IVF with donor sperm due to egg quality. He suggested donor egg and donor sperm. I told him that was much too expensive and would be cheaper to use donor embryo. He does not do this. Told me to call Snow Flakes. I know that I looked into this a few years ago and they too were every expensive.
I called my old RE and they offer FET with donor embryo. The cost will be between 3,000 to 4,000. They told me I am not too old for the program, I will be 42 in March but as long as I deliver before I turn 50. God I hope it would not take me that long.
Just want to know if anyone has gotten pregnant or has children from FET with donor embryo.
Thanks
Stacy

Hi Stacy-
I do not have any children, but have also been considering donor embryos. You might try posting on the infertility donor board on the infertility FET board to get more responses. There is also an organization called "Miracles In Waiting" that also places dontated embryos. Best of luck on your journey.

Thanks for answering my post. We will be using embryo donation through my RE's office. SnowFlakes and other agencies like them are just too expensive. Good luck on your decision.

Preg & m/c Ment'd
Stacy,
We went through our RE...We signed up last January and they told us it would take 6 months to a year to be matched. I didn't think I would ever be able to survive that long, but I did... We did a couple DIUI's over the summer just to by some time. None of them worked. I think my eggs are just no good. We were matched with 15 good embryos on September 21, 2006, But had to wait a 3 month period before we could transfer.
I checked out snowflakes and miracles waiting, but they just wanted too much money and you had to have a home study.
Our DEFET cost us under 2,000.00 through our RE.
This will be my 4th pregnancy. My sister donated her eggs to us in 2004. we did 2 fresh cycles and both ended in m/c. We had 4 embryos left over so we did a FET in Oct. 2005 and that one also ended in m/c. RE decided that DH's sperm might be causing the recurrent m/c's so he suggested DEmbryos. I think it was harder for DH to let go. I had already given up my biological connection 2 years ago. So to me I didn't care who gene's it had I just wanted to carry a baby.
So now we sit and pray that this is our little miracle baby that we have been waiting 6yrs for....
If your old RE does DE I would switch back and get on the list...You could always pursue one of the other websites too. It doesn't hurt to have a back up plan.

HI!
We're currently waiting until July - when we will start transferring a couple of our 11 donor embies. We waited on Miracles Waiting for about 10 months before being chosen. We went months emailing and talking on the phone, getting to know each other and becoming friends. Unlike Snowflakes, Miracles Waiting DOES NOT require a homestudy and the only amt we paid was for advertising (something like $35 a yr).
Just 2 weeks ago, our donors came over 1,500 miles to meet us, to confirm what they had already reached in prayer - and now we KNOW that all is well and things will begin soon. I feel that I would be healthier if I were to lose 20 lbs (thus starting in July) - as I also have hypertension (will be 40 at time of transfer).
Please don't think that the only way to create your family is to pay for your child. These are a gift from God and the donors - they should not be bought. They only things we pay for are in DIRECT relation to the embies (storage, transfer from clinic to clinic) etc Of course, we then pay for the trasnfers, which are different from clinic to clinic + meds.
I'm excited and can't wait to finally create our own family after 19 yrs of marriage and over 17 yrs of ttc and failed adoptions - you think of a bad scenario and I can tell it! Donor embryos are such a gift - and we can't be more thankful to the wonderful couple who are allowing us to have a family.
If you need any info on embie donation, just pm me! Snowflakes is the biggest agency around, but by far not the only way.
Blessings!
Marci

I am pg with donor embryo. a singleton.
I agree about not paying for the embryos. Our RE gave them to us. no fee other than the FET of about $2,000. good deal.

I have two ds through de (ages 1 & 3). We did use Snowflakes. Their fees are for the homestudy, for counseling for the genetic families, transportation of the embryos and legal fees. You are not paying for the embryos. Its no different than the fees that are incurred with an agency adoption. For our second match we only had to pay a small rematching fee.
We also had the opportunity to get to know both genetic families through email and hope to meet them someday.
Best wishes on your journey. I hope you are successful. As has been said before, de is a wonderful way to build a family!
