Question DI pregnancy - How to disclose to family?

I am 6wks pg from DIUI (severe male factor).
My DH and I have not told our immediate family yet about the idea of using DI, let alone that we are now pregnant. Some of our immediate family don't even know about our IF issues either right now.

We plan on being forthcoming with info with them as well as telling our child.

Can anyone recommend any books or websites on how to disclose this info to family and friends through discussion?

I want to make sure we don't freak anyone out, but at the same time, we don't want to leave the conversation thinking they understand all aspects, when really, they think it was a horrible idea.

I was also thinking to possibly give them some literature if I need to read later, so that they understand the importance that even though we wanted them to know about our DI child, we do not want others outside of this circle to know and the reprocusions if that did happen.

...sorry for the long winded email.
Please let me know if you have any ideas, resources, opinions, etc.

Thank you thank you!

My suggestion for telling family: I am usually for breaking things to family as a united front, but in our case, we chose to have me tell my family and dh tell his. I wanted to make sure that his mom (especially) got a chance to ask the questions that made her feel secure that he was really FOR this decision, and not just going along with what I wanted. Likewise, I wanted to make sure that if my family had any wayward comments to make (they didn't, but you can never be too sure), that dh not feel subjected to them. Dh also felt strongly about making sure that his brothers had their sperm counts checked, a topic which he didn't think they'd relish discussing in front of me (they're still on the young side).

As far as telling your child, I plan to do the same. I think being the same as everyone else is overrated and, these days, impossible! I have found a good set of children's books on this site:
www.xyandme.com
We will order the DI book early, to help describe the process to our 3 year old. She's pretty open-minded, which helps The main thing, I think, is that kids take these things as well as you raise them to take things.

Good luck, and CONGRATULATIONS!!!
Jessica
