I posted this to the beta board too, but thought maybe someone here could help. I'm 9w & 2-3 days along. My OB called & said my # dropped from 124,000 to 122,000 in 48 hrs. Basically he gave me the option of "waiting for nature to take it's course" or going to have an u/s. Is he nuts, of course I wanted an u/s. The baby looks great, measures on target, hb is 171, even danced for us. Do the dropping #s mean m/c is on it's way or should I rely on the u/s instead. The dr office was closed by the time I left the hospital & I'd appreciate any advice. I can't believe I have to wait till Mon to talk to them about this...

I don't know about your beta dropping this far along. {{{Hugs}}} I am so sorry that you are having to go through this. You might want to try posting this question over on the pregnancy after loss/miscarriage bb. They may have more answers for you there.
I would really like to know what your progesterone level is. Because for Elijah had I not found out how low it was I would not have him today with out the progesterone suppliments. It is important for you progesterone level to be at least at 21.
Please know that I am here for you if you need me. {{{Hugs}}}

Is it possible at all that you may have had twins and one passed that can cause your betas to drop?
Otherwise I dont know but good luck. I would trust the ultrasound they can tell alot from those.

I would defintely request another beta, progesterone level today and u/s. It could be like wishing said. I would definitely wait things out to make sure. Please update after your appointment today.

I just read your post on the beta bb and posted over there. But just to say it again. Being you are going to a different Dr. and lab your beta results are going to vary. More than likely your little miracle is fine.

Sorry, I'm not sure where anyone got mislead, but I used the same Dr & lab for the 2 tests. My RE had released me to the OB the previous week.
I did call the RE's office about the results, even though the tests were ordered by the OB. I wanted a 2nd opinion on the situation. Since he's the expert on hormones I thought it would be a big help. The RE's nurse originally told me my beta shouldn't be dropping & should still be doubling. But the Dr was out for MLK day & she'd give him the message. They called Tues & said RE says that a beta is no longer reliable at that stage in the pregnancy. If the U/S looked good & no cramping or heavy bleeding, then we should be OK. They recommended a follow up u/s. I had a follow up pelvic exam scheduled w/the OB Wed which revealed a tightly closed cervix. So I have another U/S scheduled for next Tues. If that comes out well, then I'm throwing my worries to the wind. Actually, I'm still queasy throughout the day, so I'm not as panicked as last weekend. No reason for the spotting has ever been found, but I am still spotting almost every day.
Anyway, thanks to everyone for your support & concern. I hope this helps others in the future. I know I've learned a big lesson...Don't do a beta at 9wks pg, even if your OB insists it's the best thing to do at the time.

Got great news on the u/s today. Baby is still growing, actually is even a little more ahead of schedule. HB is 167, looked like sprout was sleeping. So u/s tech said she'd see me again at 20 wks.
