6 wks preg, low beta but increasing, anyone?

    Hi there,

I used to visit this board years ago when experiencing primary infertility, since then have had success after prolonged period of infertility, ivf treatment, miscarriages, failed cycles but I got there! We now have twin 3 1/2 year old girls and a beautiful little boy 1 1/2.

I went back through frozen cycles this year to finish my very last frozen embryos and got pregnant on my very last. BUT the first day of my pregnancy test showed hormone level of only 39 when it should have been 100. Now after a very long 2 1/2 weeks filled with blood tests my levels have increased to 7,500 but still low, and my dr has asked me to do the 7 week viability ultrasound this coming Tuesday.

That feels like forever and now I am fully struggling to get through each day. I asked my dr what would an ideal beta level be and he suggested levels can be 20,000.

I am feeling defeated and negative. He and I and everyone is obviously concerned as it looks like I am progressing towards a non-viable embryo and have to wait until Tuesday.

Has anyone been in this predicament and had it worked out????

    Regards,

    Lain

Congratulations and Welcome to the bb. I have seen many ladies over the years have low betas that slowly rise and they deliver full term healthy baby's. Have you had your progeterone level checked? That is important because your progesterone should be atleast at 21. I will keep you in and your little miracle in my thoughts and prayers. Please keep me posted. What day is you u/s scheduled?

    Take Care,

    Thank lynette

HI, thanks for your encouragement. I will check on my progesterone level, thanks for the tip. Will call clinic now.

I have moved my u/s to tomorrow which makes it 6w4d instead of 7 week u/s. My husband is in the U.S next week and therefore wouldn't be here for 7 week so my dr said its fine to to it Saturday, but he is unavailable to be contacted until Tuesday - I weighed up the odds and decided better to do it with my husband and if it is an ambiguous result or negative I will just have to wait to discuss with my dr on Tuesday.

    Cross fingers.

    Thanks for you support

Let me know how your progesterone levels turn out. Please know that some don't see a hb until in the 7th week. Please let me know how it goes tomorrow. I will be praying for you.

So small, not great news from u/s

    Hi there,

I had the u/s this morning. I am 6 weeks and 4 days pregnant but measuring 5w 3d. There was a sac and a yolk but couldnt detect a heartbeat.

I will have to wait to speak to my dr on Tuesday but I suspect this is not heading in the right direction. He will probably order another u/s in a week to be sure, maybe a blood test but I think I will probably have to wait another long week to eventually find out this is a miscarriage.

I am so tired of this, after the dreadful 2ww it has been a day to day thing starting off with too low a preg test level - this is so cruel and frustrating and so much mental effort to get through it to get nothing out of it.

I wish it was heading in a positive direction.

    Non-Viable sadly,

    Hi there,

Its taken me a while to get back on the computer.

I had the second u/s at which there was a heart beat which I was totally not expecting and it was too slow. I was so sad. I had a d&C the following day to which my doctor said on that day there was no heart beat so the embryo had died, it was very small.

I am now left with the dreadful situation of contemplating no more children or do we do another stimulated cycle.

Thanks for your support. I wish I had better news but I am feeling better emotionally as it was nearly a month ago this all happened and I am lucky to have 3 beatiful children thank god.

I'm really so sorry to hear what happened, I know how stressful this all can be. I'm 6 weeks but only measures 5. My Beta's are very low too. I am kind of dreading what the future holds because odds are that this won't work. I'm 39 and have no children, other than 2 older stepchildren. I go back on friday for the second ultrasound. Had one yesterday to check to see if it was etopic, and it wasn't. They saw a sac but it's too early to tell how this will go. DR. said this week should be very telling on if it's "viable". My last level was only 1357. I do find that it is helpful to know how many other women go though difficult times too. It also is hopeful to see that sometimes it doesn't work right away the first or second time, but like in your case it worked once already. Good luck with what ever decision you make for your future with your family.
    Take good care of yourself,
    Deborah
