not the best update

I went for my second visit with the high risk doc yesterday and my cervix has already shortened some and I was contracting when they were trying to take the measurements so they had to stop several times. I am so disappointed, I was really hoping for a semi "normal" pregnancy this time but I'm already going downhill and I'm only 15 weeks. My OB suggested a different high risk doc who may be a little more proactive and innovative so I am anxious to go there next week and see what they say. The one I have been seeing is taking the wait and see approach and I'm not up for that this time!

Thanks for listening,
Jessica

Jessica,

I am sorry that things are going downhill already. My pregnancy after my loss was the exact same way. I had my preventive cerclage at 14 weeks and a week later at my check up it had already shortened and strict bedrest began. I was in complete tears when he told me that. Then at 16.5 weeks I was already dilated around that cerclage and immediately was sent to the hospital to have another one placed. Even after all that I still made it to 36 weeks, but did stay on complete bedrest for 5 straight months.

You definitely need to see someone who will help you. I was placed on Procardia from 16.5 weeks until delivery. I had weekly appts to check my cervical length by US. I had almost weekly vaginal swabs to check for infection and treated appropriately. I took my bedrest very seriously and stayed down all the time. I had a bedside commode and laid down on a blow up raft in the shower. I am sorry that this pregnancy is already complicated, but I really think you can do this. Let me know if you need to talk as I just went through this...

Hi Rachel,

How are you doing? How is life with your new baby girl? Thanks for responding to me, I thought about you when things started to go downhill on Friday because I knew you started having problems around this time too. I'm so nervous about the weeks to come, I have no idea what my body is going to do. My measurements aren't "bad" yet but they have went down from each of appointments so far so it's not looking good. I just really don't know what I will do if they put me on strict bedrest or in the hospital again. My survivors are only 1 and we have no close friends or family in the area plus since they were micropreemies they have not been out and about at all so aren't used to anyone but me. I guess I have to just keep hoping that a cerclage will work or SOMETHING will keep things stable for a while longer at least. I just can't believe I'm in this predicament again. I feeling like my body keeps failing me.

Thanks for listening,
Jessica
