esco- I have 2 nephews, one is 4 now and one is 8. I have borrowed all of their clothes. I used my sil pump as well. You're really not supposed to unless it's a closed system, but I did.

Breastpumps are now covered under "obamacare" you should check with your insurance companies first before paying out of pocket for one. I heard getting a hospital pump is better for twins, but not sure why and what exactly that means. Thanks for all the insight on bottles. My midwife gave me an Avent sample and it looks like a good contender. DH wants to go to Babys R Us to check things out and I am kinda nervous! I have hardly done any research and really been procrastinating because I am still in that phase- "OMG I am pregnant---and with TWINS!" Although there is one thing that I kind of like and its called the cosleeper basinett. It allows for both babies to sleep in one bassinett and can connect to your bed for seamless transition for feedings.

jracks - LOL! Which goes to show how much research I'm doing now, because I don't know what a closed system means. :/ Something I need to look into, I guess.

MariaPina - How does the breastpump being under "obamacare" work? The whole change confuses me. Is insurance supposed to reimburse you for that now? And will they do it based on the basic system, or the cost of the item? Or is it like some medicare items where it is supplied to you? I have so much questions about that. LOL! I do love the Avent bottles, and have already told hubby that it is likely the bottle we are using. The rest, we haven't yet decided.

mariapina- A hospital pump is recommended for multiples because you will be using the heck out of it! The hospital grades are much more expensive than a regular double electric pump, about 3x as much depending. Thanks for the tip on insurance coverage. I just found this article on the website of the pump I'm looking at. Breast Pumps and Insurance: One Mom's Story | Hygeia Breast Pumps and Breastfeeding Accessories.

esco- I believe that if your insurance covers the cost of a pump, then you need to purchase from a special supplier that bills insurance. I don't know, but I would imagine how much you would end up paying would depend on your individual plan. Again, only reason I know this is because the Hygeia website has great info. They give a list here of suppliers that will bill insurance, for example. DMEs Who Carry Hygeia Breast Pumps | Hygeia Breast Pumps and Breastfeeding Accessories. Closed system won't allow any milk back flow from the tubes into the motor unit, whereas an open system can. This can cause both mold growth and of course contamination between users. I bought all new parts: tubing, valves, etc. So, I used the motor, battery and bag. Again, the issue is with milk getting into the unit, but I never had an issue (at least that I know of).

esco- I called Contact Information - Lehan Drugs Pharmacy - DeKalb and Sycamore Locations, a medical supplier that sells Hygeia, Medela and Ameda in IL. The rep was very nice and told me that she would check my insurance info for me. She did say though that insurance companies are paying $125, which is the maximum allowed amount apparently.
