Good morning ladies! What a busy week I had last week, work was so crazy I had almost zero down time, and this weekend was just as nuts...my mother's furnace went kaput (and we're in PA where it was in the teens and twenties all weekend!) so I was trying to help her with finding someone to get it fixed...all of a sudden it's Monday again (BOO!)

Katie-you're right, I think we're all in the in between stage, early pg symptoms are waning, so nothing to complain about, and nothing going on till we're further along! I have been checking in when I can though, reading up Yes, I have been cold, but I'm always cold, so def check w/ doc, better to be safe than sorry!

K&K-My thoughts are with you through your move, it can't be an easy thing to do with a little one as well as being pg! Glad you finally made your OB appt, good girl!

Penny-YAY for anatomy scan! It must be so exciting to have the date set up I can't wait til I have my 2/7 appt and get mine scheduled...it will be the first u/s I've had since 7 weeks! I can't wait to see the little peanuts

Glad to hear of the great NT scan results, and that everyone is feeling better, same on this end...EXCEPT...OMG my lower back is KILLING me...I read up and Dr. Google said it's normal in early pg as the ligaments stretch to have lower back pain. I have a herniated disc as well though, so I'm a little concerned. Anyone else having this problem? Starts in lower back and radiates out to my hips. It's the worst when I walk and has gotten really bad the last two-three days. It's always something! Hope everyone else is doing well!

Hi Carrie! That stinks about your MIL's heat going out. Not the time for it for sure! Our weather warmed up again today but it was pretty cold last week and we got 6 inches of snow on Friday. Not fun when you can't go sledding! LOL.

YES! My lower back is killing me too and I'm having an especially hard time sleeping on my sides rather than by back. I'm most comfortable on my back but apparently that's a no-no. Ugh! Have you tried a warm bath? Water up to 100 is ok for a bath according to the pregnancy book. It might help a bit to soak everything. I have done it the last few days and I feel a bit better but still not great.

I can't wait for your next u/s either! It's plain torture what they're doing to you!

Penny – a cruise! You lucky duck That sounds so wonderful!!!

K&K – moving, man…that is a big undertaking. Better to do it now and not when you are in your 3rd trimester. It is exciting.

Katie – I am not a good person to ask about being cold, I am cold all the time pregnant or not. But, in general, I would say that I get cold to the bone more often, but am overall chilly less often than normal. My face gets hot a lot but I will feel chilled. Strange? Cant wait to hear how the scan goes today, good luck!

Melissa - I JUST read that you can sleep on your back til 4 months along. I am more comfortable on my back so I was really happy to read that. I have been having hip pain at night so I bought a prego pillow (ridiculously priced by the way) but it is fairly versatile and nice to have.

AFM - #1. I am off progesterone! Yippie #2. I have a miserable cold. Made 1000x worse because I cannot take medication to help so I am feeling its full force. #3. Had a VERY scary incident on Friday. Stayed home due to onset of my cold, so I was out of my daily routine of eating breakfast. Went to Subway for a sandwich around 11 and my blood sugar bottomed out (at least that is what I am guessing happened). I had to sit down where I proceeded to soak my shirt in sweat in like 1 minute, started shaking, heart was racing like crazy, and could not even lift my head. An employee brought me some sugary soda and made me drink it. They were going to call 911 if I did not call my husband so I totally freaked him out (but in all fairness I was totally freaked out too). I was at Subway for like 2 hours before I felt that I could drive myself home. Now DH is very concerned with my food intake (even more than before) but I don’t really blame him.

Has anyone started researching daycare yet? For those that will need it. We will have to put the twins in daycare right after my maternity leave is over which I hate, but there is nothing we can do about it. We have 0 family within 8 hours of us.

On a totally unrelated note, Super Bowl is in Indy this year (which is where I live) so I think that the DH, myself and a few friends are going to participate in some SB fun this weekend. Hope my stamina can hang! I am looking forward to it.

Carrie - sorry to hear about the back pain, I've had it off and on but I'm sure yours is made much worse by the disc problem. Funny how fast the weekends go! Hope you were able to get your mom's furnace fixed. As far as scans go - that's actually the biggest reason I got the NT scan! I tend to get worried in the early part, it's tough for me when I can't feel the baby yet. I'd call it paranoid. I called them up like a week before the appt and told them I changed my mind and wanted to do it anyway. Now I'm just hoping to feel some movements soon.

Mariah - Wow, that does sound scary. Are you eating often enough? What do you think caused that? As far as the cruise goes....it's at least 2 years out, but I like to plan! It's amazing how low the prices go for the off-season cruises, and it's not like we have to actually go in the water. The boat has tons to do, and there's always walking around and sightseeing. We're lucky that we're a 6-12 hour drive from three different ports, so we have some choices. For daycare.....with our first, I started researching at about 3 months pg to try to get on waiting lists. I imagine it's going to be a little more difficult with twins, so it probably doesn't hurt to start looking now! BUT - the center I was on the waiting list for "lost" my spot, so I ended up in a last minute scramble anyway. Funny - but I think the place we ended up at was better.

K&K - good luck with the big move! What was the decision-maker for you?

Jake's Mom - doing nothing is a very nice thing to do indeed.

Katie - I tend to go back and forth. Mostly warm, but sometimes very cold. Seems like my internal thermometer is somewhat confused.

Sarah - you're only a few weeks behind me! I'm (hopefully) finding out at 18 wk 4 days, so I'm sure there will be a batch of us at the same time. Speaking of batches, aren't there quite a few NT scans scheduled for this week in the group? Like I said, for me it was mostly a chance to see the baby again!

AFM - Was starting to wonder where everyone went, but the board is active again today!
I've had this nice sinus problem for about a week now. Tend to get sniffly throughout the pregnancy anyway, but adding sinus headaches and extra sniffles to that. Guess it's the time of year for it. I really want to start feeling this baby move - that's the moment for me (besides those u/s's) when I figure everything is ok. 4 inches this week! DH is voting for a girl too, and the kids are getting more excited. My 7 yr old DS wants a brother, 4 yr old DD wants a sister. She says "I have two brothers, but none sisters." Good point, but as I tell them, "God gets to pick"!

Mariah - OMG! That must have been so frightening! Have you ever head any blood sugar related problems before? I would be concerned with this incident and I'm sure you have already called, but hopefully you can get in to see your OB as soon as possible. Take care of yourself, hun.

    Yay for stopping the progesterone!

I've gone all paranoid about all things high blood pressure and abnormal blood sugar readings (though I've never had a problem) and I am testing my BP daily and my glucose every other morning. That's just due to close people to me ending up with preeclampsia and gestational diabetes. Major paranoia on my part.

Thanks for the info on back sleeping. I'm going to check with the OB tomorrow since I'm already at 13 weeks and since it is two I presume the problem of the uterus getting heavy on all other things happens earlier. Not sure though. Hopefully he tells me I've got a few more weeks but I did just order the boppy prenatal pillow. Hope it helps some. I have heard very good things about them.

Must be so fun to have SB in your home town! I hope you have a great time!

Have you considered in-home day care? There is a website called care.com not sure if it is only local or national, but they do background checks and everything on the care givers and you may be able to find someone to come to your home and look after them which might make you feel better.

Carrie I still can’t believe you have to wait so long for another u/s. Melissa is right – that is pure torture! As for your back, that really stinks. I have back problems as well, so can empathize (herniated disc resulting in surgery several years ago and on and off issues since). Since you know you have a herniated disc, I’m assuming you’ve had treatment at some point that included physical therapy? Whenever mine acts up, I do my exercises (the ones I can remember) and miraculously I do feel better. I’m supposed to do them all the time, but obviously I don’t. Also, do you own your own tens unit? I bought one online years ago and that thing is heaven. The electrodes send electronic pulses and increase blood flow, etc. It feels great and really helps with the pain and healing (was always part of my pt as well). You can buy them online for as cheap as $30. A wonderful investment for anyone with back issues. And the obvious – be careful. If your back is hurting, try to take it easy and not lift anything heavy, etc. I expect our back issues will only get worse as we get bigger – so much to look forward to.

MariahBeth Yay for being off progesterone. But wow – your incident Friday sounds very scary! It sounds like the people at subway were on top of it though. I’m glad you’re feeling better, but you really need to be careful. I’m assuming you will make sure and tell your doctor about the incident at your next visit??? Have a great weekend – the superbowl was here in Dallas last year and there was all sorts of fun stuff going on, so I know what you mean!

Penny I think it’s very cute that your kids are making predictions on gender. It must be fun to be excited with other little ones who are excited with you!

AFM I called and got my NT scan moved up a week – I’m now doing it next week when I’ll be twelve weeks. The girl at the dr’s office agreed I would be cutting it close at 13 (waiting on results) even though they do CVS til 14 weeks. So, I feel much better about that.

Quick update - NT scan "looked perfect" just need to get results from bloodwork today and again in 2.5 weeks. Also, tech took guess on sex, said she had a good view and was about 85% sure... GIRL!!! Prepared for the possibility that could change, don't care either way, but exciting to find out. Baby measured perfect too at 12w 5d, and got to hear heartbeat for first time!

Katie Yay!! That's wonderful news! What a relief! And woohoo for a girl!! I have a good friend who found out the sex of both of her kids during the NT scans, so I was curious why no one on here had found that out! I will definitely be asking at mine. Super excited for you. :-)

Dang it! I asked the tech how early they could see at my scan, and she said not until 15 wks or so. Oh well!
