Hi Ladies,
Congrats to everyone who has had their wee ones! Can't wait to hear about the other upcoming arrivals :-)
When pregnant I also used to pee my pants almost every time I sneezed. It was pretty annoying!!! Glad that is over.
Breast feeding is indeed a challenge. We're alternating between doing both twins tandem, or if one is up slightly before the other and hungry, I'll do them one at a time. My pediatrician said it would be ok to introduce bottles after 3 weeks so next week I'll start pumping and having DH do some feeds. The girls are 12 days old today! I am managing ok I think, but will go to our local breast feeding clinic next week to get them to check the latches and give me some other tips that might help improve things. I completely agree to ask the lactation consultants to help you as often and as many times as you need!
I have to run b/c I want to try and take a nap and shower before the next feed. It is amazing how my day is now divided into 3 hour bits...
Hope all is well with all of you amazing ladies. I am not sure how I would have made it through the last 9+ months without all of your support! xox

Candice - Noooo not congested babies!! I was so proud of myself not getting sick while Im pregnant..then right at the end it hit me lol. This is my first cold in forever, so forgive my extra whining. It is pretty much gone now thank goodness. Dh is getting it now though. Hopefully it wont last long and he wont contaminate the baby..Who I have decided will be coming out VERY soon whether she likes it or not lol. I cannot wait...I feel like Ive been pregnant for sooooo long. I am sorry your dh is sick too. Its really miserable, and poor you..you get to take care of everyone lol. I hope everyone is feeling better soon.
Sad - I didnt realize that we cant introduce bottles right away! I thought that as soon as your milk comes in you can pump and toss daddy a bottle..Theres some more of my new mommy wisdom for us!
I guess that will help things a little. Money has been tight trying to afford all the last minute things for her, and the things I will need, so affording a pump has not been possible up to this point. We were thinking of getting it Friday though. Hmmm...Im glad you mentioned that. I hope that things start to fall into a routine for you soon so you get some rest and relaxing showers in there!!
Nancy - Take good care of yourself!! Its so hard to be sick and pregnant..this far along especially. I hope it all clears up for you soon!!
Afm - I'm just doin' my thing, waiting anxiously. I had two contractions yesterday and was soooooooooooo ecstatic, but they were like an hour and a half apart and nothing else happened lol. I guess I should stop all the focusing and just let it happen. I had a question about breast pumps. I am looking at buying the Lanisoh double electric pump..Its $159 and I havent heard anything bad about it, but everyone just tells me to skip it and get a Medela..which is twice as expensive. I realize the Medela might offer a little more comfort or convenience for the price, but have any of you tried the Lanisoh? I really really wanna try to save money, and if a pump thats half as pricey as the Medela will work nicely then I am not gonna go get the expensive one just for the brand. I know I want an electric, and preferably double pump though....ohhhh helpppp lol.
I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying those babies!!

nikki- thanks, i wish i could help you with the question you have but i'm also confused about the breast pump, i got one as a gift is a avent and is about 145.00 abd i'm thinking of trying that one if it doesn't work get the madela one but i really don't want to pump i she won't take the breast i think i will just breastfeed until 3months.
AFM- today i'm 39 weeks and i'm getting really anxious and scared and i don't know how many more feelings i'm having, i'm feeling better from my cold thank god, as of right now the only problem i'm having is that since i have 2 different dr i see one is saying my due date is the 19th and the other one the 23rd so i know is only 4days apart but ultrasound did say 19 so at this point they won't induced until the 26th which i'm ok with but i really don't want them to wait later than that i don't want her to be born on halloween even if i have to get her out my self J/K. another question i have is that i have heard from so many pregnant girls that they are leaking colostrum but i don't have that and never had is that normal not to have it.

Nikki - not sure what to tell you about a pump. I have done it both ways pumping early on and this time not pumping yet. Pumping helps stimulate the milk but the baby really can take care of that.
With my 2 first boys I have always offered a bottle early so that I would be able to leave the house. I have yet to do this with Brennan so we are stuck home. I just hate pumping
Try using a pump at the hospital before you leave they typically have Medela. You can also rent one for about $60/mth and this would be top of the line. I rented one with #2 and it was easier because it did both breasts at once but I personally preferred the Avent manual pump since I nursed most of the time. I have the Medella small electric and also a manual but they just were not as comfortable as the Avent. Remember if you buy a pump it is non returnable unlike most baby items. Hard to invest $300 when you are not sure you are going to like nursing.
I think with my #1 pumping while trying to nurse was very defeating. It made me feel that I was not making enough milk for the baby. I could never pump more than an ounce and I heard of women pumping many ounces right away. Once I got over the idea of starving the baby and settled down to just nursing most of the time and the occasional bottle of formula it got much easier.
so much to think of when it is your first time...
Nancy I never leaked anything - with #1 milk took 7 days, #2 took 5 days, #3 took 2 days. Be patient with yourselves. If you need to give a little formula to make you feel better just do it. Attach that baby to your boob, settledown to watching LOTS of tv and just get comfortable and relax is all I can tell you oh and get all the extra lip service (people) out of your house. Nothing is more frustrating than all the unnecessary opinions of everyone
else.
On another note we have used about 85-100 diapers the first week of being home.me 40 dh 39

Nikki - Everyone is doing better - Thanks! I think it might be a long winter with all the colds and such - plus we had our first snow on Saturday already! Really? October 10th and it's snowing?? Might be a loonngg winter!
I don't know what to tell you about the pump - I have the medela pump in style (a gift from my brother) otherwise I think we might have just rented. My two have had bottles right from the get go from pumped breast milk and they've also had the breast. Of course at this point my milk is just not keeping up with them so we're doing mostly bottles at this point. I would hesitate to spend the big bucks until you know how it's going to go. You might check craigs list too - I see the pumps on there all the time for $100-$150 you can just get all new of the tubing and pump stuff that actually touches you. So even though I wanted to do breast milk for 6 months, we aren't going to make it! We're just at about 3 months and I think I'm going to give it up. They sit on the breast for 1 hour+ until they come off and I don't think they are getting enough because they are hungry an hour later. If I pump, I'm only getting a couple of ounces out. I've been trying all the "tricks" to increase supply but it just doesn't seem to be working....so really long story short...I haven't heard anything about the Lanisoh but I agree with Shanni - pumping sucks! If I had to do it over again, I would rent from the hospital, that's my two cents!
Shanni - Brennan is BEAUTIFUL!! Congratulations again! It's definitely a challenge having older kids at home and adding babies to the mix. At least mine are 10 and 8 so they require a lot less than yours do! Hope things are settling into a routine for you!
Nancy - Glad to hear you are feeling better - you are almost there! At least you know that the latest you would be induced is the 26th so I'm sure you won't have a Halloween baby. I also didn't leak colostrum - of course I was WAY early, but I think it's pretty normal to not have it leaking before you have the baby.
Ailese - thinking of you girl! Post when you can!
AFM - passed my due date on Friday - which is just crazy! Me and the babies are figuring out how to get out of the house a little more and all the planning that Mom has to do to get there! But we're all doing good and having a great time just hanging out all day every day! We go to the eye doctor tomorrow for him to sign off on their eyes being at normal. I guess when they are premature you have some eye issues - something called ROP - something to do with the retinas - and they had a mild case just before we left the hospital but he was confident it would resolve itself so he's checking it out tomorrow.
Have a great Monday everyone!Candice
