Hi everyone...
A few days ago I posted in the high FSH / POF group. I am 36, FSH 14, and we are on the waitlist for IVF. We tried Clomid for one month, and I was asking how many months it was worth it to keep trying Clomid with a high FSH as my RE was quite discouraging about whether or not it would work for us.
My pre-Clomid cycle was 24 - 26 days. I know that Clomid can increase your cycle length, but my RE said to expect it to increase only by a day or two. I am now on day 28 of my cycle, still no period. I've been doing HPT's every two days and they've been all coming up negative. I had pretty much assumed that I was not pregnant as I'd been getting some early cramping signs which generally are a harbinger for my time of month.
BUT - this morning I did another First Response HPT and got a faint line! Very faint - but it's there. Could it actually be that I'm pregnant? Is there anything about being on Clomid that can result in a false positive?
I'm excited but so wary to get too hopeful. I have very little experience with all of this. Any and all feedback would be most appreciated!
Thank you!!!![]()

There is nothing in clomid that would produce a false pos. Did you read the test within the time frame? If you wait too long, you can get an evaporation line. If you read it on time and there is still a line, i would try again tomorrow! Some tests require higher amounts of HCG then others. When i was pg with the boys, i did a first response and got a neg, but tried a cheap brand and got a pos! Good luck....keep us posted!

I agree - there's nothing about clomid that would increase your chances of a false positive. I would consider it a great first sign! Test again tomorrow morning (first morning urine is best) and if it's positive call your RE for a beta! Good luck!

Hello..I never had a false positive while on clomid. I had tons of false negatives, although I know my levels were probably just too low to register on the hpt..it wasnt clomid altering my test in any way I'm sure. When I have taken home tests, they have always been first response, and even when I was for sure pregnant after ivf, my line was VERY faint. So theres tons of hope for you! I too would try again and make sure you read the test in the time framed outlined on the instructions. Best wishes for you!!

Hi everyone!
Thanks so much for your responses. Following that first test I took two other tests, different brands, with the same result - faint positive. That afternoon, as luck would have it, I had an appointment with my RE. She sent me for a beta test and it was positive! I went for my second test this am and have my fingers crossed. I did another First Response test this am and it came back positive with a much darker line, so I'm hopeful that that's a good sign...
I can't believe it. I'm hoping that everything goes ok and that this is a sticky baby!
