It's August ladies! We're coming down to the home stretch! I can't believe we are all either in or close to our 3rd Trimester! Some times I thought these days would never come....
Nikki - my doc always measures my fundal height - even though it doesn't really count for twins - since we measure so big - it helps her keep track if my belly if growing like it should be with the rugrats in there. Last time she measured me was when I was 28w and my fundal height was measuring 36! Congrats on making it to the 3rd Trimester - we're almost there! Nancy - How was the 4d scan? Did you get some good shots of her? I know what you mean about the registry - it's hard finding enough stuff (practical stuff) to put on there - but go crazy girl - you can always take stuff back and get clothes or other stuff once she's here! Ailese - Congrats on making it to 25 weeks! That's so awesome girl! How are the half days going? How was the bro's visit? Did you have a good time? Tell me all about the prenatal cradle once you get it and if it helps! I think I might go get one today... Maria - I know what you mean about the size! I have a couple of friends that are both due any day and I'm bigger than both of them at 30 weeks! It's crazy - just when I think I can't possible get any bigger I do!!! AFM - just hanging out...have a doctor's appointment on Thursday that I am looking forward to and a breast feeding class that I got cleared to go to as long as I'm in a wheel chair and not walking around that's tomorrow night. Hope everyone has a fantabulous week!

Hi guys,
I've been out of touch for soooo long...sorry. Lots going on here. I'm now on bedrest too Was having lots of cramping on Friday so my doc had me come in for monitoring. Sure enough I was having real contractions. She sent me over to the hospital and they put me on some meds to stop them, and also gave me a shot of steriod to help mature the babies' lungs just in case. I had a bad reaction to the first set of drugs, so she switched me to another and the same thing happened - heart racing and could hardly breathe. I was sooo breathless and couldn't even eat. Got home yesterday and now I'm on strict bedrest. They set me up for home care so the doc apts come to me now which is great. I will also be getting a shot of progesgterone/wk from the nurse who comes and she will monitor me and the babies with the NST etc. I am sooo exhausted both mentally and physically. DH and I have just come to terms with the fact that these babies are probably going to come early and be hospitalized. It's been my worst fear this whole pregancy (which was fine until now). But, I've been doing lots of reading and know that their chances are very good these days. I have a 2 1/2 year old at home and it makes it so much more difficult. I feel bad for dh picking up all the slack and feel bad that my little guy doesn't get as much attention from me as he used to. I will be so happy when this is all behind us - even if I am lacking in the sleep dept from two crying babies LOL Oh yeah, last scan at 28 weeks (I'm 29 now), the babies were measuring 2 lb 10 oz and 3 lbs even. Hope they are getting even fatter!!!Glad to see you are all doing well overall. I read most of the posts and will try to keep in touch now that I am sitting doing nothing anyway!!!

Hey Ladies,
Candice, I wa also shocked when I had my first fundal height measurement about 1 1/2 weeks ago. It just goes to show that with two, you might as well be prepared for being much bigger than your average singleton pregnancy. I am measuring about 4 weeks ahead of a singleton pregnancy. Many people think that I am much further along than I really am. LOL! Then people are really freaked out when I tell them why. Bring it on! I don't care how big I get as long as these two li monkeys are the reason why. Tess, I'm sorry to hear that you are on bedrest. The great thing is that with the current technology and all of the medical advancements in neonatology, your babies have more than a 95% chance at survival if they were born tomorrow! I have also been worrying about pre-term labor and delivery. My Peri told me that she would LUV to get me at least another 4 weeks with the twins on the inside, as their survival rate skyrockets once they reach 28 weeks and they will have less pre-term complications. However, she did say that the longer they stay the better. She kept reminding me that twins are considered full term at 37 weeks and anything past 34 weeks is great. So, try and keep positive. You have already reached a milestone at 28 weeks and that is something to be proud of! Keep us posted. AFM, it is really stange when I getting off of work at 1100... I almost don't know what to do with myself. I have my next growth scan on August 10 along with another cervix measurment. My brother is still here on business and will leave on Friday. He stayed over at our house for the weekend but has a suite at a fancy hotel in Savannah during the week. His job requires for him to travel a lot and he will be back again in Sept. It is so great to see him and dh and I asked him to be the twins godfather, which he accepted. He wants to take me shopping for the twins today but I have a registry already set up and honestly don't feel like walking around a store. I'm thinking that I will just print out the registry and take it with me to the store. Some items though can only be bought online.... that's a bummer. Anyway, that is me! I hope that everyone is having a great week. Ailese |

Nancy - Bummer she wasn't cooperating to get a good face picture - but at least you get to go in again to see her!
Tess - Good to hear from you! You can be my bed rest buddy . It's excellent that you are at 28 weeks and the more you can keep em cooking the better - bed rest does stink though....hope you have lots to keep the time flowing! The babies weights are great for 28 weeks! I also know what you mean about feeling bad that hubs has to take on the slack. I've had a couple of melt downs in the last couple of weeks, but thankfully he is so understanding and is not in the least put out by all the extra he has to do...I'm truly a lucky girl.Ailese - Glad you had a good time with the bro. It's great that he travels for work and you can see him once in a while! AFM - I'm in the hospital!!! I had a LOT of bright red bleeding this morning and passed quite a few clots. They admitted me at 10 am and I'm just hanging out waiting to see what's next. I'm contracting so they are just keeping me on the nifedipine for now - if that doesn't calm the uterus down they'll go to the mag sulfate, but looks like I'm here for a little while anyway. The bleeding has definitely slowed so I'm hoping we're past the worst of it. The doc said the babies are looking good and are showing no distress at this point so that's good. I'll keep you all posted as things progress! |

Candice - Oh gosh, sorry you are in the hospital but glad the babies are looking good. I know how you are feeling - it's so stressful when your body is doing something you can't control!!! Keep us posted and stay well. I'm glad you are this far along though!!! I just hope I can hold out too
![]() Ailese - thanks...Definitely enjoy the time you have now ;-) So great that you are close with your brother and asked him to be the godfather. I was wondering myself if the babies would have one set or two sets of godparents. You made me think about this again. Nancy - Please post pics when you can cause I'd love to see them....even if they weren't the greatest. I was actually thinking of getting another 3d done also but now since I'm on bedrest that won't be happening. I go in for another growth scan tomorrow. I really hope these babies are bulking up b/c I'm really getting nervous about them being preemies. My ds was born at 35 weeks but was really big for his gestation (6lbs 3oz) and did fine except for some difficulty feeding at first. I hope I can hold out a few more weeks. Monday I'll be 30 weeks! Also, the in home nurse will be coming tomorrow to do the NST and administer the progesterone shot. My mom has been staying with me and will try to come a few days/wk (she lives 3 hrs away)....mostly to help with my ds who is very active. It's been great help but ds is VERY attached to me which makes it hard to be on real bedrest; although I'm doing my best to comply. Hope everyone else is doing well. Update when you can!

Hi Ladies,
Sorry I've been out of touch but I had a week's vacation and wasn't really on-line. Tess - I'm sorry to hear you're on bed rest. I had those steriod shots for the babies' lungs too and found that they made my heart race. Hope you're feeling ok now. Candice - your baby shower photos are great! I love the dress you wore. My shower is in about 3 weeks and I have no idea what I will wear. It will depend on what fits I suppose! I'm sorry to hear you're in the hospital. At least you know they're keeping a VERY close eye on you and will work to make sure that those babes stay in there for as long as poss. Nancy - I"m sorry that you didn't get to see baby's face during the u/s. My OB does a scan at each appt but that is mostly to see the heartbeat and amniotic fluid volume. I haven't seen a profile shot of either baby since our 20 week scan. Nikki - My doc also measures the fundal height at each appt. Apparently at 26 wks with twins you're the same size you'd be at full term with a singleton. That explains why I feel so big - I'm 30 weeks now so essentially it's like I'm a month overdue! Ailese - Glad to hear you had a good visit with your parents and your brother. Hope that you're feeling well and that you can keep on eating :-) I'm sorry if I'm leaving anyone out. Hope all of the Oct IVFers are doing great! AFM, things are going ok. I'm supposed to work for another 4 weeks, but am feeling like I'm slowing down and getting tired easier. Someone asked about how much help we'll have after the babies come - I'm hoping that we'll be ok. DH will take a week or two off right at the beginning, but then will have to go back to work. My step-mother is retired and will be around to help us during the day for the first month or so. My mother is still working full time but will likely try to be around as much as she can. DH's parents live overseas and are waiting to hear from us when we want them to come and stay for a couple of weeks to help out - most likely once my step-mother leaves. My sister might also come to help for a week or so once the other parents go. I feel like we have to do a lot of coordination to make sure that everyone doesn't come at once, but it is hard when we don't exactly know how much help we're going to need. We were told to say YES to all offers of help, but at some point we're probably going to want to have our house to ourselves I suspect. I was also told that it would be a good idea to hire a night nurse or equivalent to help out for the first few weeks. Anyone else hear about that kind of thing? |

help
I'v decided that I want to try and go it alone. I don't really care much for my in laws and my mom lives about 15 mins away but drives me insane. When I had my son I was 20 and stayed at her house due to the fact my husband was deployed (air force) and I was clueless. That was a mess and I kind of resent my family for there lack of help...as I saw it. Maybe I'm being childish...but waking me up at 6am cause there is formula powder on the counter that needs to be wiped up is unbelievable. So this time around.....I want to be in my own home and on my own terms. I'm getting rather nervous as to how I will cope with all the stress. The baby blues were tough and with double hormones I'm thinking I might just go crazy. Anyone else have any problems with this?
Good to see all our babies are doing so well. For the two of you on bed rest.....some times I wish I could be that lucky. Yesterday I cleaned our fridge and pantry.......it was AMAZING! NOT |
