thanks for the laugh I could completely envision this. Too hard to pump and type much less on a blackberry. Amazing what we learn to do though. Those pumps are not such fun. Glad the babies are doing well!

Hey Ladies.....
Well..... I have taken a bit of a nose dive. I have been diagnosed with preeclampsia and pre-term labor and am now on bedrest until the twins arrival. Their arrival may be sooner than expected because of the preeclampsia and I am prepared to deliver them between 34-35 weeks, if I can keep them in that long. The twins had their fetal monitoring today and I had a couple of contractions during the 20 minute sitdown.... Bummer.... because I didn' even feel them!! The twins also had their biophysical profile today and thankfully they scored 10 out of 10, so we are very pleased to hear that, especially this early in the game. I am measuring at 36 weeks!!! And have gained an additonal 6 pounds in the last 2 weeks which makes my grand total weight gain up to 32lbs so far, the Peri said that preeclampsia is playing a role in the weight gain. My Peri and my nurse practioner predict that I will deliver some pretty large babies for twins, regardless if they are delivered earlier than expected. At my last growth scan my son was measuring at 2lb9oz and my daughter was measuring at 1lb14oz. I go back for another growth scan next week to get an idea of how much moe bigger those two porkers have gotten. ![]() My cervix has also made a significant drop from 3.2 to 2.3. So, with all of this said.... my Mom will be arriving this next Tuesday to help and me and dh out while dh finishes up his last semester at school and can fully focus on his studies. I don't want him worrying about and taking care of me in addition to having to take care of the household while I sit on my fat arse and incubate. LOL! Thank the Lord for my Momma an thank the lord she is retired!! I just adore her... she really is a godsend. I am now required to be at the Per's office for monitoring twice a week. I would like to stay as an outpatient for as long as I can. I still plan on getting my maternity photos taken but it looks like it will have to be within the next week or they just won't be taken. I will update on personals tomorrow! I hope that everyone is doing well! Ailese |

Awww Ailese!I'm sorry to hear that things have suddenly taken such a turn for you! It is great news thatyou're measuring ahead since your little ones are trying to make their escape early lol. It's really good of your mom to cometo help out while you can't move! Goodness it seems like so many of us are getting really close. I have a sneaking suspicion that I'm gonna be the one on here still undelivered at full term and a half lol. I will use everyones new baby pics to see me through lol. So do you feel alright now or are you very uncomfy or sick? I really hope things are going as smoothly as they can for you right now.
I'm thinking of you girlie!! |

Ailese - I'm sorry to hear that you're going through all this crappy stuff. Thankfully you've got your mom to help you and DH out. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the babes stay put for as long as possible. Sounds like they're growing well though, and that is reassuring.
Candice - Great to hear your update. We're hoping that your wee ones keep on gaining and that you can get them home very soon. You're a real trooper and we're all thinking of you! Michelle - That is great that the twins are both ~4 lbs! I hope that your body can hold out a bit longer before they arrive. No doubt the heat doesn't help the swelling - I've started to notice my ankles getting a bit puffy at the end of the day too. Nikki - My shower was great :-) Really nice and fun to see a lot of my relatives that I don't get to visit with very often. Everyone is so excited to meet the babies, and obviously no one more so than me and DH. I can't get over how generous everyone has been - we are really fortunate. As for getting the nursery prepared, we still don't have the cribs but should get them hopefully in the next 2 weekends. They are coming from friends so we feel we can't really rush them, but I'll feel a lot better when I have them set up at home! No one else commented about the varicose vein thing. I'm glad if none of you have them b/c I have found it to be uncomfortable. I failed to mention the embarrassing location that this pesky vein has popped out.... It is not on my leg, but "down there" (sorry if that is TMI). After doing much research I found out that this is apparently common in pregnancy, more so with multiple pregnancies b/c of the pressure that the babies put on your pelvis/pelvic floor. I spoke to my OB yesterday and he was very reassuring. There isn't anything you can do about it, so I just have to grin and bear it and hope that it goes away after delivery. |

Ailese - hang in there. Here I go and complain about twice weekly visits with not much to worry about. I hope they hang on for a long while. Make sure you are completely on best rest and do NOTHING. Hard to do at home with all the stuff about.
Sad - a friend of mine was telling me yesterday she had varicose veins that came up in her legs that hurt and were awful with her 3rd pg. They went away afterwards. Of to my bio physical ultrasound and OB appt.

Ailese - So sorry you are going through the preeclampsia thing. At 29 weeks was when I was first admitted into the hospital with suspicion of preeclampsia and I was so nervous - turned out that I only had trace protein in my urine and the hospital stay helped my swelling tremendously - I'm still at risk but holding steady. I was getting lots of contractions too and they still continue. Was actually in the hospital yesterday again for contractions. I'm getting so sick of the hopital. I just hope I don't have to return again until I deliver. In any case, I am 32 weeks now and still holding on. I think the bedrest helped me so much so take it easy and follow the doctors orders. I hope you can hold out for a bit longer. Sounds like the babies are doing great. And, I'm sure that weight gain is due to the preeclampsia b/c when I got home from the hospital, I was about 10lbs less from the swelling going down.
Michele - How far along are you now? Cool that the babies hit the 4lb mark. I'm holding out for that. My next growth scan is Monday and I am anxiously awaiting hearing how they've grown. Candice - So glad you and the babies are doing well; although it sounds so tough what you are going through with them being in NICU. It sounds like they will be home with you soon though. Thinking about you all.... Can you remind me - how far along were you when you delivered? Sad - Glad you had such a nice shower. It's awesome to get things you need. Now, to organize it all huh? lol Hypergirl - I'm in CT so I know what you mean about the recent humidity. I'm on bedrest now and thankfully we have central air or else I'd be going crazy. Keep an eye on the swelling b/c sometimes preeclampsia can creep up on you.

Oh, Ailese! Please take care of yourself and the babies. Don't worry about anything else. I was wondering why you look bigger than me, and i am 1 week ahead of you. It's good your mom is coming. I always fear that if i have to go on bedrest, i will be all alone. We have nobody here, and my husband is working full-time. I am hoping to work as long as i can, because i have no paid leave in my company: all i am getting is 16 weeks unpaid leave (state law for twins...) just to keep my position. My mom is coming after the babies are born...she lives abroad, and we don't stay in touch with my in-laws....
I just updated my dh on you, and he is like:"Stop sending me messages...you are scaring me...." LOL He is freaking out, because we are about to have the bedroom re-done (i am talking, a wall demolished, windows changed, the ceiling changed), and it's gonna start the end of the week, and will take a couple of weeks. Fun fun. And the babies room is not done either... I keep scaring him "The babies may arrive tomorrow, and then - no renovations. Let's get moving". The general contractor also freaked out and begged me to not have them yet LOL It will be fun if they start the work, and then i have the babies, and then we will have no bedroom and the whole process will have to shut down indefinitely ![]() Ladies, i still don't know how contractions feel like. I sometimes feel like something is pulsating in my pelvic area....is that them? I have a doc appointment next week.... Sad, As for the veins, i don't seem to have any varicose ones on my legs....but i have been having hemmoroids for a while (off and on) now. They don't bother me at all (not yet), but it was funny when they first appeared LOL I was like "what the...?" I guess, you can consider them to be veins, right ?

Sad-Ohhh nooo...not there. I have never had that during pregnancy but last year I had severe ohss and I had that happen down there. It was awful and very uncomfy cuz I also had a lot of other swelling due to all the times my dr drained fluid. He said its pretty much no different from a hemorriod when the vein is in that area..nice huh? Lol..he was trying to tell me to do the same things I would do for hemorroids..put my feet up, don't strain to do anything like lifting, and stay hydrated. In the end I just had to wait until all the pressure was off of my pelvis and pelvic veins and it slowly went back to normal..not that that's any consolation right now. I hope its quick for you!
I am so happy you had a nice shower! Isn't it amazing how generous people can be? I told my friend I wanted her to help me find a bedding set for my baby that's pretty cuz the one we chose was $200 and I needed feedback on colors and stuff. So she just went and bought the set we had wanted. Its really really nice to have good friends and an excited family. I'm glad you have that. Well I must go for now. If this post is a mess of mistakes I'm sorry but I'm doing it on my blackberry hahahaha...after laughing at Candice for mentioning trying it on her phone, here I am lol. |

Ailese- i'm sorry to heard that your in bedrest, but i'm glad you will have your mom to help you, you look great in the pictures.
Candice- thanks for the update, i'm happy to heard that the babies are doing good. sad-how was your shower? michelle-you lost 5lbs how did you do that. AFM- the baby shower was wonderful we got everything we need it and more lots of gift cards, the only thing i regret is not listening when people would tell me not to buy clothes, blankets ,and towels i have so much i don't know what to do with it as of right now i only have out in her closet 0-3months nothing else will fit and she has a huge closet we also got lots of diapers. the 5hour drive wasn't that bad but once i got home i went to sleep for 7 hours straight and i haven't been able to do that in months. |
