Happy June Everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend!
Tofu - thanks for adding the boy/girl stuff to the list! I hope you don't mind that I copied and pasted your list! Let us know how the rest of your appointments go, I'm hoping that those heart spots resolve themselves by birth. Your odds are still REALLY good I think that your baby will be fine...At least the cramping has subsided for you! I checked out your pics on shutterfly - it's so amazing isn't it?! He's so adorable! Nikki - It really is kind of fun not knowing - but part of me wishes I knew so I could figure out the names!!! But DH and I have been analyzing every u/s picture and everything the nurses or doctors have said that might give us a clue . One thing about twins, I get to have an ultrasound every time I go in - I'm glad you get one next time too! I think it's incredibly hard waiting the 4 weeks to see them - I can't imagine having to wait 2 months! I totally know what you mean about little Miss Jasmine being spoiled - I really hope we don't have 2 girls growing in here just because I think DH will bankrupt us buying cute little outfits! Your Dad is adorable that he bought a summer outfit. Sounds like he's already wrapped around her little finger!Nancy - I'm so sorry you had a rude technician! I agree with Ailese - how can you be crabby when you are looking at someone's baby with them! Crazy! But I'm glad everything looked good and that she's at 9oz already is great!!! Ailese - Girl, I'm sure you are doing fine on the eating and such! My weight gain didn't really get powered up until I hit 18w - and then it really packed on! My belly has gotten really big this last week and I've definitely not been able to keep up the rigorous eating I was doing - of course, I have been able to have my daily shake . I'm sure yours will take off soon! How were the first of the injections? As bad as you remember or not as bad?AFM - swelling is definitely better - but I've been making sure to rest a lot more and get those feet up. The babies have really been making themselves heard this last week or so. The hubs was FINALLY able to feel them move and I've noticed that now when they are kicking I can definitely see my belly move - it's pretty funny. My older stepson got to feel some kicks last night since he was sitting with me when they started to go to town. It seems like they wake up around 3 am and really start thumping on my tummy so it wakes me up - little turkeys. Otherwise, all is well! Enjoying the nice weather and getting some tan on my legs - we all know that tan fat looks better than white fat, so I'm trying to help out by at least camouflaging it a little! Hope you are all feeling good! Candice |

Happy June!
Candice, Thanks for starting the new thread! You are so funny! I totally agree that tanned legs look better than pasty blue veined legs. Sucks the babies are waking you up at 3am but isn't it the greatest feeling ever!!!?? Doesn't it bring crazy smiles for your stepkids and dh to feel those babies twist and tumble in your belly? I feel Logan move all the time. DH can't feel him yet though - but I am hoping by the end of this week he can feel him. O yea, I wanted to mention, as luck would have it, those EIFs don't disappear and are with the baby forever, according to the peri. She also said she has an Asian friend who's a doctor that is pregnant with an EIF in her baby's heart too. My next ob appt is June 11th and u/s appt is June 25th. Can't wait to hear the little guy's heart racing! At this point, we can hear them with a stethoscope if we wanted to instead of a doppler. Nikki - *yay* for a little girl. it will be so fun shopping for girl clothes vs. boy clothes. I hope that 2 month wait isn't going to drive you crazy. Hopefully by then you can feel her punch and kick you. It will make the wait go by quick.Nancy- is it possible to request a certain sonographer everytime you go in for an u/s? Luckily whenever i go in for mine, I have the same sonographer each time. And boy is she good! Quick, patient, and experienced (24 years). Ailese - Hope the progesterone shots are going well for you. Glad to hear that it's a nice supplement for you and your babies needs AFM, yesterday I watched "The Business of Being Born" a documentary that Ricki Lake did on birthing methods. Thought it was pretty interesting and scary at the same time. Have you guys decided what type of delivery you would be having? DH totally wants me to go all natural. Easy for him to say I guess. I am interested in the water birth. Seems like the women I watched didn't scream at all like the ones in the hospital. This week is going to be a busy week - we're looking at cribs and furniture. Also decided on the stroller we want. www.orbitbaby.com. it's a little bit on the expensive side, but looks way super easy to deal with (and me and DH are all about convenience!). Also going to go car shopping soon!

Hi everyone,
Don't have much time to say hi to everyone but wanted to give an update. I went to my OB yesterday and she said that she is probably going to recommend I leave work at 28 weeks. We had an out of state weddign this past weekend (5 hour drive) which I was in. Lots of chasing my 2 y/o and a dress and heals ALL day!!!! Anyway, my legs and feet got a bit swollen and it was really tough on me. I think she was concerned with that. I kinda feel that it was just b/c of the weekend but she says if it continues, that's the plan. I also told her that my belly had been feeling kinda hard lately....not just the regular two babies in there hard though. She set me up for a cervical check at the hospital..think they do it by ultrasound...not really sure. Anyway, hoping everything is ok with that. To be honest, I would welcome the staying at home from 28 weeks on (but you know the whole financial thing and not wanting to use up all my leave time before hand). Either way, it's all good. Want to do what's best for these babies Oh, and I've gained 19 lbs so far which I think is crazy but she said is great for the babies LOL. She also said that right now some of it is water since I'm swollen. My level II ultrasound is Thursday. A bit anxious about that since my nuchal came back as a higher risk (never did an amnio). Praying things are fine. Hope everyone is feeling well.

Hi Ladies,
Sorry I've been MIA for the past while. Just had a chance to read your updates and I'm glad everyone is doing well. Hard to believe it is already June! Where does the time go? I'm 21 weeks now and my belly has really popped out in the last week or two. I fully look preggers now and am so thankful that some other friends have loaned me their maternity clothes. Not that I am a fashion crazy person or anything, but it is nice to have a few options (that fit me and that are comfortable) to wear to work! I meet with the OB again next week and am hoping he can give me some idea as to when I will be leaving work. My manager wants my leaving date so that she can post my maternity leave position but I can't just pick a date out of thin air! I'd like to try and work as long as possible, but will see how I feel. I am still feeling pretty well, but know that the 3rd trimester might be a different story.... I noticed yesterday that I am getting spider veins on my legs which I'm not wild about. I'll have to try and work on that sun tan b/c after a Canadian winter I am definitely pale! We had our detailed u/s last week and it was amazing to see the babies again. They were moving around a lot, and one of them in particular was not interested in showing her facial profile or her heart. They had me moving around, lying on my side, standing up, trying to get her to move. It was pretty funny. I guess that she might be "the stubborn one" although I know you're not supposed to give them labels like that. Everything was normal in the end, which was reassuring. BTW Tofu, IEF is a normal variant when it is seen as an isolated finding (as you well know) and given that everything else has come back ok, I think that is very reassuring :-) No progress on the name front for us. We have a "short list" of names we both like but DH wants to meet the girls when they are born before we officially decide. Middle names are easy b/c we'll use my middle name for one, and another family name (maybe my mom's name?) for the other middle name. I love the names you have chosen for your babies ladies - very exciting! We're starting to try and get things organized for the nursery now (when I say WE I mean that I am doing this - DH tends to let me worry about the details while he looks at the big picture). Have any of you registered for baby stuff yet? I know that a baby shower is likely in my future but I think (hope) I still have time to come up with a "wish list". Ok - just wanted to show a sign of life and to say hi to all of you wonderful ladies. Take care of yourselves and your little babes! |

Tofu - I'm so jealous you are getting the Orbit! I saw it at a store here in Omaha and think it's super cool - but the hubs was pretty much shutting me down because of the cost x2. Oh well! I haven't seen that documentary you mentioned, but I have pretty much decided I'm all for the epidural as soon as I can have it. I watch all those shows on Discovery Health and TLC and have told the hubs I really don't want the kind of nurses that keep screaming at me to "Push!" about 500 times in a row. I'm hoping to have everything as calm as possible, but who knows! I'm trying not to get myself too set on any one birth plan since it's a toss up with multiples on what I'll get.
Nancy - I hope that since you've said something about not liking that technician they'll give you someone better when you go next time - keep us posted! I definitely don't envy you the weather you all are having! I'm here in Omaha and it was beautiful last week, this week it's cooled down some so we'll have 70's which is perfect in my overly-heated-pregnant-mind! Tess - Wow girl! Your weight gain is great! It's good for those babies to have that extra weight on! I totally know about the swelling issue - mine is bad if I'm on my feet all day running around too. It's gotten better this week, but the weather isn't as hot so I'm wondering if that helps too? When are they doing your cervix check? Will you have that done Thursday with the Level II? Good luck on that - I'm sure everything will be fine! I think you might want to leave work by 28 weeks if you can. I'm leaving at 25.5 weeks and it can't come fast enough! I'm just so tired in the afternoons after being here all morning - I'm looking forward to taking it easy until the twinkies are here. SAD! - I'm so glad to hear from you! Sounds like your girls are doing well. I can just imagine the positions they wanted you in to try and get her to cooperate. Too funny! Sounds like you've at least got some options for when the girls get here. DH and I have one solid name for each gender so if we get 2 of one flavor we've got a list that we'll just see what they look like for names when they're born. I haven't registered for anything yet, but need to get started on that soon. I have my baby shower on July 25. I'm hoping my cousin that just had a baby will come down and walk me through the actual needs vs just fun to have! We haven't done anything with the nursery yet - but hoping that DH will get it painted soon so we can start getting it all set up! Talk to you all soon! Candice |

Hi again everyone,
Had my level II today and everything looked perfect! This was such a relief for us because after the nuchal, we were told that I had an increased risk for Down's for one or both of the babies. The risk was 1:80. After much research, we knew that the blood test with twins can throw things off and the measurements were really not alarming to us (one was .9 and the other was 2.3 - the one they were more concerned with). In any case, we decided against an amnio and chose to wait till this Level II. I cannot tell you how happy I am that everything looked good. They also checked my cervix with an internal scan since I've been having some tightening in my belly - looked great too. Boy, being preggo with twins is so much more worrisome for me than with my son. I'm so nervous about everything x2! hehe go figure... Candice - I have to adjust my weight gain to 17 lbs to date - that weight was due to water retention from being in a car for 5 hours! My doc yelled at me for that one ;-) My boys weight was a wk ahead and the girl was right on target (15oz and 13 oz) so I guess things are really good. I agree, stopping work can't come soon enough. I just wish we had better benefits in the U.S. for leave...like in Canada or Europe!!! I'll get short term disability though so that's good ![]() Sad - I know what you mean about the belly pop thing. I am almost 21 weeks and the same thing has happened to me. All of a sudden, fully preggo! A friend of mine lent me some clothes too...so helpful b/c the maternity clothing is so expensive and anything on sale is out of season LOL Glad your US went well ![]() Nancy - I hope your allergies are getting better. Hard this time of year and it must be terrible being preggers and dealing with that! And that does stink about the unfriendly tech. Mine was awesome and it made such a difference. Hope you never get the crabby one again! Tofu - good luck with car shopping - sounds like you've been nesting lately ![]() Nikki - congrats on your little baby girl!!!!!!! How exciting...now you get to think up some names! How's everyone else doing???!!!

Hello
An update from my end ...
I had to change my OB inbetween my pregnancy as he just didnt bother to check my thyroid blood test, stopped my thyroid medication at 6 weeks of pregnancy without any reason. Doesnt do any urine test, doesnt check the heart of the baby as he says he could only check it when I am 18 weeks. Last year I lost my pregnancy due to triplets at 19 weeks reason still unknown but yes one marker indicated by my IVF doc was that it could be due to incompetent cervix. My cervix on my first ultrasound at 12 weeks 3 days measured 3.4cm and it should have actually been around 4cm during that time however I was little relaxed it was done externally and not internally and again my bladder was too full so that could change the measurements and hopefully they were more than 3.4cm I was so mad at this OB as for anything and everything he would provide advise over thephone without any physical check up. I am 16 weeks and 3 days today my placenta is anterior located so this means I dont get to feel my baby movements this early at all. I am so tensed about my second trimsemister ultrasound and bloodwork as the first one was fine and hope the second one goes fine as well My NT during the first ultrasound was 1.7 Any advise ladies ... Tess- So glad to hear your Level II went great! What a sigh of relief that they both look great! Your weight gain is still really great for where you are - you are going to have nice big healthy babies! I wish we had better benefits here in the US too! At least you'll get some Short Term Disability to help out with the finances!
Nancy - I've got the horrible allergies going on now! It's horrible! I talked to the doc who said to go ahead and take some claritin or zyrtec so I did, which helped, but then I noticed that the babies weren't moving as much so I freaked out and called. The doc thinks the meds just make them drowsy but it worries me too much so I'm off meds and just humping it until I feel better! Hopefully that comes soon! Tanya - Did you already change OB's to one that will monitor you more closely? It's really important that they be regulating your thyroid since that can harm the baby. They should also be doing a urine test and at least listening to the heartbeat each time you go in! I'm so sorry you have to deal with this after a previous loss. Is there any way you can see a perinatologist that will monitor more closely since you lost your trips early?? I'm sure your 2nd trimester tests will be fine! If you haven't gotten a new OB- take care of that ASAP! It will definitely help put your mind at ease and a happy momma makes for a happy baby! Good luck and keep us posted! AFM- Allergies are killing me- but I'm otherwise feeling good. The babies are moving around all the time which is super cool. We finally got started on the babies room with the first order of business being new windows in that room. Our house was built in the 50's and I'm not sure they've ever been replaced! So that's the big plan for this weekend, then we can get it painted and get the cribs set up. I hope everyone is having a great weekend! Candice |
