Hi girls - Can I join in? Didn't know where you all were hiding

I'm having boy/girl twins due 10/19! We are so excited. Already have an almost 2 1/2 y/o boy at home (also conceived through IVF).

I am just about 5 months now and my belly is starting to grow...sometimes feels bigger overnight. I don't look that big for twins (at least that's what everyone is saying); although I feel huge and always am out of breath. Having two in there is definitely different from my singleton pregnancy.

We are trying to decide on names and have narrowed them down to two each. You may have seen my request for help with a survey ;-). It's down to Jack or Jason & Julia or Grace. At least that's what we are saying this week. Problem is that since it seemed that everyone around us had kiddies before us, all of the names are taken up LOL

Hope you are all feeling well!!! Looking forward to getting to know you all!

Hey all!

Tess - Welcome aboard! I'm glad you found us. I voted on your poll for Jack and Grace - I love those names! I'm right there with you on the belly seeming to get bigger overnight! You must get exhausted with a toddler to chase around too! Anyway, hope you are feeling well....

Ailese - I'm so glad to hear that your cervix hasn't shortened any more and that darn placenta has moved up!!!!! That's so exciting! I'm sorry to hear you have to do the dreaded shots again, but if that's what it takes, that's a simple thing to have those 2 beautiful babies! June 10th is right around the corner - can't wait to see what they are!

AFM - had the peri appointment this morning. He said everything was perfect! Baby A's placenta has moved up and A is 13 oz with the heart rate at 144. Baby B is 14 oz and a heart rate of 145 and was scratching his/her head while we were all looking at him/her. It was pretty cute. He said they should be at 1 lb at 22 weeks so we are right on track. I was so relieved! I also gained 7 pounds in the last 3 weeks for a grand total of 16 pounds at 20w5d. I'm pretty happy with that! My cervix was nice and long at 3.5 cm so he said that there aren't any indications of preterm labor yet, but they'll keep checking that every couple of weeks now to be sure there's no change. So all in all a great check up - the hubs and I are thrilled! It's amazing how big they are getting.

Have a good rest of the day everyone!

Candice

Welcome, Tess! Sorry, i am very bad with advice on names...I am having a hard time deciding the names for my twins too.

Candice, i can't believe you did not see the gender of your babies while looking at the screen I would think it's pretty hard not to at 20 something weeks!!!! Although, everything is moving so fast, trying to focus on the images...i guess they would have to point it out to you....Anyways, be careful

Ailese,
I am so glad everything went well with your check-up! And the bleeding almost stopped? Yay!!! Trust me, i know what it's like...I am praying for you!
Oh, i did not know they can give you progesterone for the cervix! That's awesome. Anything but that stitching procedure, right? Thank God!

Afm, i had my cervix checked out today. Of course, the technician was measuring the babies first (for a while), and then at the very end she checked the cervix. The whole point of the u/s was the cervix check, but i guess she was not sure what exactly was required, so she just did everything. I was glad! Both babies are fine. She also said she is 90% sure one of them is a boy (she saw the thingie very clearly). I was thrilled!!! Then the other baby was, according to her, "having its arms between the knees" (i almost collapsed of laughter...it just sounded weird, but was so true...i saw that myself), so she could not tell for a while...Then, when she was measuring that baby and the baby turned at last, she said she is also 90% sure it's a boy too!!! OMG. I called my dh and he was laughing out loud...he is thrilled!!! We both wanted a boy (before we knew we would have twins), but then with twins, ideally, we wanted one of each. So, my u/s in 2 weeks will show more definite results (i will be 18 weeks then). I heard they make mistakes, plus it's kinda early at 16w3d...what do you think??? The technician was sure...i asked her several times. She gave me 90%. We'll see.
I am just happy they are breathing and their hearts are beating. I was so nervous. Oh, the cervix measures at 4cm, so it's all good.

Hi ladies! I am on my way out, so will have to catch up on everyone when we get home, but wanted to update you. We had our anatomy scan yesterday. Its a girl!! I somehow knew that..dont ask me how haha. She was EVERYWHERE!! The tech had a terrible time catching her and spent most of the u/s just trying to keep up with her. She looks completely perfect, though, and is nice and healthy. Her name is Jasmine Elise. My cervix measured well, at 4cm, so thats a relief. Well, I will catch up with everyone soon!! Have a great day!

Nikki - Yay!!! A GIRL!!! That's so wonderful! I'm so excited for you all! And I do love the name! We'll have to start updating the chart to keep track of who is having girls or boys or both!

Maria - I can't believe we didn't see anything either, but the tech was going really quick while she was doing the scan - especially when she was down by the legs. They all thought it was pretty cool that we were waiting so she told us she'd be extra careful. Even the doc while he was watching pointed out all the stuff we should see but had a good time keeping mum about the genders. I really think we have at least 1 boy in there based on the comments, but they could be trying to throw us off too! Wow - you've got 2 boys in there!!! That's so exciting! Do you have names picked?? I don't think 16w is too early.

Nancy - let us know how it goes today!!

Have a great day everyone!

Candice

nikki- congratulations, your going to have a lot fun shopping.
candice- i can't believe you didn't see anything, your not going to find out. my friend just had her baby yesterday and she didn't find out either.
i had my ultrasound today the baby was awake and they were able to get all they need it, they said she's about 9oz and everything looks perfect. the only bad thing is that i got a really rude technician.

First off, YAY!!!!!!!! for a baby girl, Nikki!!!!!!!!! I am so happy for you and her name is gorgeous! She is going to be one spoiled little girl.

Candice, I am sure that you are counting down the days til you get to cut that work schedule in half. I so wish I had that option. I would love to work half days 5 days a week if possible. Perhaps, later in my pregnancy I may get that option. How is your swelling? I am so pleased to hear that your lil ones are doing so well! I am envious of your weight gain, Girl!!! You really should pat yourself on the back because I am having the hardest time getting some evidence of growth on the scale. I am now wearing a maternity uniform while at work because I can't squeeze my arse into my regular uniform anymore. I actually had rubber bands looped though all of the button holes just so my pants would stay up. I don't know what the heck is going on.... I feel heavier too. Everyone keeps telling me to not worry about it and that the weight will come but I am waaaaaay behind on weight gain according to Dr Luke's guidelines and I feel like a little bit of a failure. I am just hoping that the babes are getting or taking whatever fat I have to give. Anyhow, enough of that... Good to hear about your cervix and I am pleased to hear that your Peri will continue to check your cervix.

Tess, WELCOME!! This is a great group of ladies here. I think all four of your name choices compliment each other, regardless of how you match them up. CONGRATS again on having a boy and a girl. What a blessing!

Maria, Wonderful news about your cervix!!!!!! OMG!! Two boys!!! Almost everyone is finding out what they are having and it's so exciting!!!!!! Why is 16 weeks too early? I have heard several ladies finding out even earlier than that.

Nancy, I'm sorry about the rude technician. How is that? I never understand how you can have someone so obtuse in a career field where friendly customer service is a must!!! It's not hard to be friendly to someone while you are looking at their child on an ultrasound screen!!! HOLY CRAP PEOPLE! Sorry... I'm having a moment. But, I really think it makes such a difference to have someone who at least acts like they care, it's your child for goodness sake! Anyhow... I am glad to hear that your lil girl is doing so well. Hopefully, you won't have to deal with that awful technician again.

AFM, I will begin the progesterone injections this weekend. I am feeling much more positivity now that I am about to hit the 4 month mark, I can't wait to get to 20 weeks but for now 16 is fantastic!

Ailese

Hi everyone!

Just wanted to drop in for a quick note before I head out to dinner.

I updated the chart with genders and welcomed Tess Welcome Tess! Sorry you don't have animated hearts next to your name - the forum only allows me to add 25 images for each posting. boo on the limit! If I forgot anyone, please let me know so I can update it (and sorry in advance!)

I am glad to update that the cramping finally went away and I am really hoping the fibroid has degenerated. I am off of bedrest, but not going to return to work (there's only 3 weeks of school left anyways). I went in for another u/s scan today and the baby's stomach was measuring nice and full and there were no heart defects (last Wednesday the dr. found an echogenic intercardiac focus in the heart - a soft marker found in baby's with down syndrome -- you may have seen my post in the general pregnancy bb). Apparently this EIF is commonly seen (30%) in u/s of pregnant Asian women. EIFs are also seen in about 20% of babies with trisomy 21. So our risk right now went from 1:6466 to 1:3592. I think those numbers are still pretty good. Nuchal fold checked out normal and no other soft markers or malformations. Pretty scary stuff if you ask me. But we've decided to love the baby no matter what happens when he's born unconditionally (as it should be ) and said no to the amnio. Because of the fibroid, the peri wanted me to go back in 4-6 weeks for another u/s to make sure the baby is growing on target and to make sure the fibroid isn't getting in the way of anything. So far, so good!

If you guys want to take a look at my u/s scans, I created a free website on Shutter*fly at mbhomfamily.shutterfly.com . My sonographer is soooooo good at what she does! We also picked out his first name and the middle name is still kind of up in the air. My dh is a nutcase. This is a great way to document the pregnancy and to share with your friends and family (I sound like a sales person right now). Anyways, I'll get to personals when I have a chance later. Hope everyone is doing wonderfully!
