Heather that sounds kind of weird that it would be illegal. Hmmm...let us know what you find out. Have you moved into your housing yet? Eat some white asparagus for me...I think that it is in season now!! YUM!

Robyn...we will have to schedule something :-) NOT that Keira needs anything...but shopping for the Mommies can be fun too LOL.

Jenny - Yeah, it's weird. Maybe Germany doesn't want to be have any legal cases where custody is disputed because of divorce etc. I am guessing that is why surrogacy is illegal too. The last I heard was that Germans weren't having very many children and the govt was giving cash bonuses to couples who had a child. In that case, you would think they would want to make it as easy as possible.

I just had some white asparagus the other day with schnitzel, boiled potatoes, hollandaise (sp?) sauce and a hefeweisen. It was deee-lish! Needless to say that I am having a hard time staying on any sort of diet here. Strawberries and asparagus are all over the place right now.

    Hey guys!

I am back from my crazy weekend in NY. It was so hard to be away from my Girl, but everyone pitched in and she did fine without me. And she jumped up and down for half an hour at the airport when they met me - so that was worthwhile.

Before I left I had been CRAZY fatigued and nauseous, but the flights went well, and I was mostly fine the whole time I was in America. My symptoms seem to have disappeared for now. Of course I am worried that Little Bean is not ok or something... We do have another u/s next week since we are doing the nuchal translucency. Always fun to get a look inside there! ( I will be 11 weeks on Sunday)

It was fun to be in NYC for a few days - got to eat real NY pizza which I love. I also bought a new carseat for Big Girl who will need to transition from her baby seat any minute. I can't believe how much she has grown!

Heather: Any chance that you can go back to do the FET? What a shame to miss that opportunity!

Jenny: sounds like you are having such fun being a mommy. That is so great. And btw - they pat you down if you don't go through the x-rays at the airport.

Dixie: Let's see some pics of the little guy!

Everyone else: updates please! Where is everyone?

zevi - Glad you are home and all is well - can't wait to hear how the u/s goes!!

Heather - let us know about the embryo issue - that sounds odd!
Asparagus and Strawberries are good for you hun!

Jenny - We are thinking of getting some flowers this weekend too!

Dixie - DH and I are so with you guys on that! I think we will take turns sleeping in this weekend!
Here is DHs event this week---LO wakes up in the bassinett next to his side of the bed. I wake him up - say "he needs to eat - can you pass him to me" He stands up - and just stands there - I say "honey pass me Logan" He says (with closed eyes)...."hey - I have to go pee." So I say OK and wait, sitting up in bed - I then hear him shuffling about in the bathroom...he walks out carrying the dirty hamper - I said "What the hell is that" He said - "Well you asked for it" HAHAHAHAHA! Needless to say - we laughed and I finally got to feed Logan

UPDATE - So we woke up one morning to find that Logan had SHRUNK our house! So we are looking for something larger with more room inside and out. It is exciting but will be SOOOO much work!

    Happy Memorial Day weekend girls!

zevi - I don't know where I have been but a great big CONGRATULATIONS on the pregnancy!!!!! I can't believe that one got by me.

jeppy - I love strawberries and really like asparagus but I don't like the funny "asparagus pee" smell!

I know the following is long, but if you could please read. I need something, anything to put my mind a little bit at ease.

So it seems that I have a mystery on my hands and may never get an answer. Here is what happened. I guess I am hoping someone has some insight on what may have happened:

U/S approx March 30th shows no fetal pole, no heartbeat. Also shows a sub-chorionic hemorrhage and I am told I will m/c.

U/S approx April 3rd shows fetal pole and heartbeat. The sub-chorionic hemorrhage is still there.

I began bleeding on Apr 30th.

M/c was confirmed by u/s on May 1st; pregnancy measured about 3 cm, gestational sac appeared very misshapen and appeared to be collapsing. No visible baby or placenta. The sub-chorionic hemorrhage is very large.

I lost what I thought was the pregnancy on May 3rd.

    Flew to Germany May 4th.

    Bleeding continued.

Saw doctor on May 28th; she confirmed the pregnancy is still in my uterus. The sac is empty. It is measuring 4 cms and is perfectly round. She sends me to the hospital for immediate D and C.

Doctor who performs the D and C says pregnancy was "old" and hard to remove.

I kept asking if it was possible that there was a baby at 6.5 weeks that had been reabsorbed but nobody understood English enough to understand what I was asking.

This is such a mess and spread out over half the world from Hawaii to Germany that I may never know why/how this happened.

On top of it all, yesterday was my birthday and all this had to be done at a German hospital. I was by myself because Will had to watch after Seth. I was in a room waiting for the doctor that was right across from a woman in active labor. So while I sat there I had to listen to her labor/push and eventually hear the baby cry.

I guess I will never know when the baby died. I don't understand how the sac went from misshapen and 3 cms to 3 weeks later being perfectly round and 4 cm. I also don't understand what the doctor meant by it being an "old" pregnancy. How old? Old because the baby had been gone a long time? The language barrier here is killing me. Hopefully the gyno I see next week can understand better.

Asparagus Pee - TOTATLLY! I had some last night and it is still PEEE -UUUUU!

OK girls! BAD NEWS FOR US.....
I got laid off a day ago - After 9 years of kicking my a@@ and being a tremendous asset (not to toot my own horn) I was told that they are doing "Office Resturcturing" and it was my last day! They totally screwed me - but at least I get a month of pay and benefits.....

So much for looking into a larger home for us....

Heather, I know it is very hard to try to accept this when you cant get any answers. I know when I had my m/c My body kept doing what it was supposed to do, the sac was large but the baby stopped growing at 7 weeks so that is when I assume baby died. At my final u/s I was told that baby could no longer be found so Im assuming it did reabsorb I wish you could have stayed put until this was all figured out

T- The sac can keep growing even though there is no baby? I didn't know that. It's all so frustrating.

I found an infertility clinic here that had an English download on their website. It doesn't say anything about bringing frozen embryos into the country but it does say that freezing can be done here...as long as the "chromosomes have not fused" and it has not reached the "embryonic stage". It also said that the freezing had to be done during the pre-nuclear stage.

I have no idea what that means unless it means they freeze them within the first 3 days. I wonder what they call them since they aren't considered embryos.

That is the way I understood it. She said my sac measured a little small at the first u/s, at the second (a week later) I asked her why the baby looked so much smaller and she said it wasnt it just appeared that way since the sac had grown so much. By the next evening at the hospital the sac was starting to collapse a little
