Natural surprise pregnancies-got a quest for ya (xpost)

If you had a natural surprise pregnancy after doing IVF, what is your reason for IF and how old were you when it happened?

I would love for our DD to have a sibling but we have just one embie on ice and for some reason I don't hold much hope that it either will survive the thaw or that I will be lucky enough to get another BFP.

So I've been wondering, at my age (38) how likely it might be we would hit the jackpot on our own after ttc#1 for 7 1/2 yrs. We are unexplained IF although I was a slow responder with FSH 5.8 but high E2-74 (I took the highest doses of FSH and only got 8 eggs).

Cali - I was 27 with our natural surprise after 5 years of IF and no answers as to why - never one answer to our IF but after I had an ectopic and a tube removed we got preggo with our LO. We too have 2 embies on ice for a sibling...it is interesting to think if it will ever happen again naturally but we never thought it would happen at all - and here we both are.

Best of wishes to you hun
Jess

Hi Cali,

We have severe MF plus egg issues (poor responder). It took 6x IUI and 3x IVF for our first DD. I am now 38 and got a natural surprise (although not even 6 weeks along...).

Hope it happens for you... you never know!!

Best of luck.

Hi Cali - I remember you from one of the other boards. Just wanted to let you know that after TTC since Dec '07, I'm now pregnant!! We were considered "unexplained" until test showed severe male factor this year. We did 5 IUI's (nothing worked), 3 IVF's (nothing worked), I got a polyp, had it removed, and then DH finally got rid of some sperm infection & other issues. His count shot up from 7M - 15M to over 57M, and I finally got pregnant on a natural IUI last month. I didn't stim, we just did an insemination on my 1 natural follie, and low & behold, I got pg!

So, I just wanted to let you know that there's always a chance for you that natural cycles will lead to BFP. For me, I've always felt fertile & was mystified why we weren't getting PG. It took us nearly 2 years to figure out that all of DH's issues were a big factor in preventing us from having a successful cycle.

I'm 39, and still conceived on a natural IUI with one follie. Good luck to you, and just know that you have a chance of conceiving every month

We did 6 or 8 IUI's (can't remember) and 4 IVF cycles, all failed. We went onto to adopt three little boys from the foster system in our state.

I had surgery last August for endo pain, dr had to remove my left ovary due to a tumor along with my left tube. I got pregnant about a month and a half later, I truly thought I was in menopause.

I am now 32 weeks along with a boy!!! Oh and I am 36 years old.

Hi Cali,
I had high prolactin which keeps you from ovulating. We did 7 IUI cycles, had two chemical pregnancies, then one IVF which resulted in DS who is now 18 mos. Just as we were planning to do our 2nd IVF I got pg with our 2nd. I am now 12 weeks along.
It was a GREAT surprise and so far it's all all been good.
Best of luck to you and your family!
Laura
