Cupid Club APRIL thread

Can't believe it's APRIL already, CRAZY-

My kids are having ANOTHER rough day, I took Madeline to the ped this morning (j stayed with my mom, GOD it's wonderful having family around) anyway b/c she has just been SO lethargic and sleeping SO SO much we googled iron defficiency last night and she DEF has some of the symptoms so they ran some b/w OMG that was PAINFUL to watch them do to her. They used a regular needle (smaller of course) and took blood from the inside of her elbow like you would for an adult. Poor thing-- ANYWAY we get the results tomorrow and they also ran some type of blood sugar test too.... Oh and she lost 9oz from last week but I don't know if tha'ts a big deal or not. I know everyone's weight fluctuates just now sure if that's a normal fluctuation so I'll ask when they call me with the results tomorrow.

I seriously am HOPING and PRAYING that there is something wrong b/c I don't know how many more days like this with them both so cranky, and miserable, edgy, etc....

Anyway that's my update, J is still pretty sick and is pretty much refusing to sleep at naptime or night time, SHOOT ME NOW

Je*us, Erica.. that BLOWS. I hate those days. I hope you figure out what is going on too. Is she done getting the molars?? UGH those were horrible but I know the 2 yr old ones are right on their way AND I've heard they are WORSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT? Not possible. SEriously, it isn't. The 1 yr molars for my boys were really really bad and literally (NO JOKE) lasted 6 months! God help me.

I'm sorry it's been crappy. Are you giving her iron drops?? I do that every nite. It is VERY hard to get them the iron that they need. It's hard for adults to even get the iron WE need. The drops DO stain their teeth but I do it in the tub and I shoot it down their throats to avoid the teeth and then brush IMMEDIATELY following.

Things here are same old. Keeping busy. There is bull S H I T snow on the ground aGAIN so that is sucky!

Gina, good to hear from you again. Good to have a good job at this time!!

Laura, the heartbeat thing is a old wives tale. NOT true. Cuz heartrates fluctuate soo much that it could never be validated.

Alright, that's it. The babies will be back in an hour.

Oh and they have been consistently doing 90 minute naps now for about 2 weeks. Stupid. I miss the 3 hour ones I was getting. UGH. 90 min is crap! Oh well.

Hi Ladies. Happy April. We've been MIA, cuz I have been on a mommy board over at She Knows... doh. I guess I got overwhelmed because all the twin mommas here were doing such a great job managing everything and I could barely handle it with one.

So, anyway. Wanted to pop in, cuz Tiffany told me that there's been some action around here lately.

Lots of action around our house. Ariel will be 17 months old tomorrow and is a BUNDLE of energy. She does NOT like to sit still and is into everything. I just got done with her first set of swimming lessons and on the last lesson, was letting me fully submerge her (yaay!)! Other than that, she decided last week that she no longer wanted her bedtime bottle and has not had it since, with virtually NO trouble getting to sleep on her own. She babbles a lot, but seems to like to say "Dog" the most. She can point to her nose, mouth, eyes, ears, head, tummy, feet and legs when asked and does High-Fives all the time! She's a crackup! She smiles constantly, which is awesome. And she has NO separation anxiety at all, let alone stranger anxiety. She flirts with everyone, so that's awesome.

My babysicles were donated to Stanford University for research, cuz DH and I decided that we probably wouldn't be able to afford to have another child. That still makes me sad, cuz it just happened last month.

So, what's new? Who's still here??

Hi ladies...happy April fools. I hate this day!! I'm a terrible joke player fortunately no one got me yeah!!

Erica I'm sooo sorry about your last couple of days w/the cranksters. UGH!!! And poor M I'm so sorry she had to go thru that and I'm sure everything will be just fine.

Laura - yes, my girls were both super fast compared to Matt's!! HBs for the girls were always 170s and 180s at beginning and Matt's was around 140s/150s. Before I even knew the sexes everyone said they were probably girls w/the faster hb and sure enough it was totally true for me!!!

Carla - the playset looks AWESOME. I totally get about you not taking them out by yourself. I never take mine out w/out Scott being home. They don't put things in their mouth but I have seen them run different directions (towards the creek, etc) and I freaked out. No way would I take that chance. Once they understand a little better and don't put things right in their mouth I bet you can do it for short periods of time. I will not go to public playgrounds w/out helpers either..no way!!

Suz - I don't think I have talked to you yet...I'm fairly new here or at least since you were last on. I'm sorry about your donation I know that was hard but you made a great and very unselfish decision.

OK, on the milk. I just went and got my sheet from WIC. Recommended daily servings for milk, yogurt & cheese combined is 6 servings. Age 1-3 suggested serving sizes are 1/2 cup milk (which I guess would be 4 oz), 1/2 cup cheese, & 1/2 cup yogurt. I know she told me verbally that as long as they are getting 2 8 oz cups plus the other they are fine. Then you can do juice and count that towards their fruit. I did buy the Harvest Select and they love it and I tried it too it is good!! We were going thru 1 gallon of milk a day for all of them and now we can stretch it maybe to a day & 1/2 but still that helps on the pocketbook when WIC will cover 12 gallons a month. And yes, Mere, WIC does cover any brand of juice up to a certain size. Maybe I'll try the V8 next time! I never in a million years would think I would be sitting here talking about WIC vouchers but girls I'm taking whatever I can get for these kiddos!!

Hi Suz! How are you doing? How is Ariel? I was just wondering the other day if you'd be stopping by to give us an update. Sorry to hear about your decision...I'm sure it was not an easy one to make.

Ariel sounds like she's doing great. How amazing that she's already in swimming lessons! I didn't know they could start that early. She's way ahead of Colin on knowing all those body parts. He knows feet, hands, nose, tongue (always sticks his out when asked), and belly button. He's pretty good with animals and knows bird, duck, dog, cat, horse, snake...I know there are more too but it's late. Colin's last bottle to give up was the morning one and he just did that a few weeks ago. The next thing to go will be his BINKY which terrifies me.

Are you still working? I got laid off in January and then got another job in Feb. working 3 days vs. 4 so that's cool. Right after that I got pregnant! We were going to do the April IVF cycle but that's not happening since I'm 8 weeks along. We're just waiting for the big 12 week mark to get really excited...you know the drill.

Sparkly - I know it's too much milk!

Meredith - adorable pictures. Where were they taken, children's museum? Do you have a pass to those places? You look great BTW. Skinny minny!

Is Gabe still being aggressive w/Nic (or was it the other way around I can't remember)?

Oh and Suz...I hate that you felt that way about feeling like you couldn't keep up w/one. There are definitely days I feel like I totally don't have it together. Mainly b/c I don't do alot w/having 3...we stay in alot everyone here can attest to that.

Gm ladies.

Yes we bought a year pass to Children's museum. It paid for itself in TWO VISITS w/ the 4 of us. Can you believe it? It's nine dollars PER PERSON to get it! And 80 for a year pass! HELLO!!! Yes. That's where they were taken. We go every Saturday morning now. Gives us something to do and and EXCUSE to go out since it's prepaid!! Thanks for the compliments by the way. Amazingly, I am wearing no makeup in those pics and don't look like a pizza face. I was shocked! Ha. I NEVER LET ANYONE TAKE PICS OF ME. I can't believe I'm actually in a few of those. I'm sure my dad will order 20 of them and blow them up. They're always *****ing about how they have ZERO pics of ME WITH THE BOYS, it's like I'm not even there. What about you guys? I'm always the picture TAKER!

Suz- good to 'see' you again. I hope you're feeling better and maybe more comfortable coming back to hang with us. I'm sorry if I did anything to push you away. It definitely is tough having multiples but MAINLY, it is the adjustment to having a CHILD that is the struggle most of the time. My mom also had twins and would always say--- "You might as well have two or three cuz it's all the same. Once you have one, you're still doing it all so may as well just do it twice." (Or thrice in Mel's case.) I kind of see what she's saying now. Now that they're older I do agree but MAN when they were newborns... I'd like to have had ONE! Welcome back! Pics??

Erica, what did her results read?? I had these guys' iron tested yesterday and Gabe is good at 12.8 but Nic is low at 10,8.... UM.. can you say "ODD?" They eat the SAME things and are identical! I thought that was weird. They're also wondering why the boys only gained 12 oz in 3 months. They're still only 24 and 1/2 lbs each BUT they're 32 1/4 inches now so they HAVE gotten taller. It wasn't their 18 month appt, that's in a few weeks but I wanted hemoglobin taken cuz they eat ZERO foods with iron!!! And Erica got me thinking!

Carla, you out there??

Brandie?

Laura?

Tiffany?? What's new?

Mer, Colin's been on iron since he got checked at 8 mos. The Pedi told me that iron is very important at this age for brain development. We had more bloodwork done when I went in for my first beta and I don't know what the result is yet.

Colin will be 17 mos. in a few days. At his 15 mo. appt. he was 23 lbs. and 30". I'm curious what he will be at his 18 mo. appt. I heard that at 2 years old they are half their future adult height. So if they are 36" at 2 then they will be 6 feet tall as an adult. I have no idea if this is true or not but it seems feasible.
