Sue -- good luck!

Nikki -- I didn't mean to talk anyone out of wanting a c-section, just not to assume that a big baby would guarantee a c-section (or even early induction). Have you talked about your concerns to your doc? Given your history and needs (should a c-section be needed) it makes sense to me to go that route if possible (and sounds like you think so too).

I know most docs are not in favor of elective c-sections "just because" or "to fit someone's schedule" but if there are compelling reasons I would talk it over with your docs.

And I will confess that with #1, I was worried about trying vaginally with such an expected large baby.... but decided it was worth trying.

And with this one (#2) am a bit relieved to know it's a c-section ahead of time.

So I don't fault anyone for whatever they are thinking or whatever they decide. It is all very individual and there is no right/wrong. (Although many folks may judge you... so you may want to consider who you share your thoughts/concerns with, especially inside your family [sadly]).

Wow, it;s getting hard to keep up with everyone, having and getting ready to have their babies! So exciting!!

Congrats Calley on your baby boy!!!

Sue: good luck!!!!!!!!!

Imo: I am having a lot of soreness in my pelvic area....it feels almost bruised, like when you go for a long mnt. bike ride and you haven't ridden for a while......And that's where it hurts too, like where your bike seat would be. Weird......I'm going to ask the DR. TOMORROW.

I wanted a c-section from the beginning....or at least a epidural...but now, since my birthing class....I am really leaning towards trying natural.....we'll see!!!! I really don't want to rip and mess up my v jay jay forever. I can totally understand wanting a c-section!

Tia: you are right about people judging you on wanting a c-section or using drugs......it's kind of crazy because every birth is so different. There really isn't a right way or a wrong way. And we have no control over it in the end. People should not be so judgemental....but reality is, They are!
I just hope we all have very easy births, fast recoveries, and happy and healthy babies!!!!! That would be awesome!!

I am feeling like the worst mom in the world right now, Since I woke up, 1 hour ago, I have eaten a cookie, some 7 up, a bowl of frosted flakes, and 2 bowls of coco pebbles...........my poor baby!!!! My sweet tooth has gotten really bad! Yikes!!!!!

Good luck everyone: OXOXOO

Thanks Loren~ My appt is Friday. I called the nurse and she said it was normal, but I had such a hard time explaining it to her. It feels like achy muscles/tendons, and when I first stand up, I can hardly walk it hurts so much!

I forgot to say good luck to Sue!! We'll be thinking about you!

Tia.....I didn't think you were trying to sway me either I have been pretty adamant since the beginning with my OB I wanted a c-section, and he has been on the fence with me. I plan to flat out ask on Friday what the deal is going to be. It is all I think about. I guess we will see how big Grant is on Friday, and then discuss it at my appointment.

I was really worried about vaginally delivering a big baby..and I just learned that the babies head doesn't get any bigger after 36 weeks.....which is the biggest part of the baby and it doesn't really make much of a difference the weight of the baby....since the head will always be the biggest part. That made me feel a lot better about having a big baby..........hopefully all of our big babies just have small heads!

Wow! I missed a lot somehow.

Congrats to Calley on her baby boy! Can't wait for more updates.

Sue- Good Luck tomorrow!

Hands- Glad you can finally go home. I told you'd be in this for the long run

As for the c-section/induction. I really want to go naturally and am debating the epidural. I've heard that the contractions are stronger with inductions and you're also more likely to end up with a c-section, which I personally would rather avoid.

I've been feeling a lot of pressure lately especially when exercising. I'm 35 weeks/3days and still on the eliptical for about 30-40 minutes 4x/week. My doc said the exercise is totally fine.

Congrats Calley!

Nik, I gotta ask, what does your GI surgeon think about c-section vs vaginal delivery? It was my GI surgeons that insisted on the c-section, not my OBs. The OBs just went along with the recommendation. Of course in my case my previous surgeries involved my rectum and large bowel so a vaginal delevery could rip my rectal muscles and leave me with an ostomy, not a pleasant thought. When explained that way, all the OBs were happy to schedule a C-section and wanted the GI surgeon on call (they're ready for 7:30 tomorrow morning).

Tia, you are right about people judging all the time. Every time I told someone I was having a scheduled c-section I got this look like I was just doing it for convenience sake. I always had to follow up with the fact that I had a legitimate medical reason for the c-section. I even had someone come over to lecture me about it being at 38 weeks when she just watched something on 20/20 that said it was bad to go before 39 weeks. Like I picked the date not the doctors! It made me so mad. I'm also a health care professional and this women has a degree in education so that just added insult to injury.

Off to bed now. I have to be at the hospital at 6 AM. At my pre-admission testing today they asked me to scrub my abdomen tonight with an antimicrobial scrub brush they gave me. Then they want me to repeat tomorrow morning. I have to say that's new. Never did that before a surgery before.
