Metformin

I was wondering for those of you on Metformin, did it start to give you diarrhea after you found out you were pregnant. When I first started the metformin I would get a lot of diarhea, but that seemed to go away. I am only 5 weeks but have had it almost everyday this past last week.

I take metformin for gestational diabetes and it does give me loose stools. One of metformin's side effects is gastrointestinal problems.

I switched over to the extended release formula and its side effects are not as bad. You could as you doctor for metformin ER and see if that helps.

I had that same problem too. I took it until I was 13 weeks, and then stopped. The loose stools pretty much went away at that point when I stopped the metformin.
