Negative Urine and Blood Tests But NO Period? Can you still be pregnant?
Does anyone know if it is possible to be pregnant if you don't get your period but urine and blood tests say you are not pregnant? I am one week late and I have never been late. All the tests say negative but I have gained weight, especially in my belly. My boobs are bigger and around the time I was supposed to get my period I had unusual cramping. I have a full feeling in my stomach and I am so confused!
I have a gyno appt to do a pelvic and u/s next week. So far doctors don't have answers. Hoping for possible answers from resident experts! One woman thought I might have a cyst, I hope to rule this out or in with gyno next week. Thank you!

Yes! Yes! Yes!
So far, I have not had a pregnancy last longer than 10 weeks, so take what I say with a grain of salt, considering my pregnancies have been abnormal. However, with my first pregnancy, which was after IUI with injectibles, I did a HPT the day before my beta and expected period. It was negative. I was shocked the next day when the told me my beta was positive.
With my second pregnancy, which occurred after 7 years of TTC and only a few months after my miscarriage and D&C, I missed my period, but didn't get a positive HPT until 3 days after the missed period. With my third pregnancy, with occurred after IVF, I had all negative HPTs at home and on the day of my beta, it was positive. I'm currently 5 weeks pregnant, but my numbers have been rather low, which is why they often don't show up on HPTs, even the very sensitive ones. I would ask your doctor for a blood test to see if you are pregnant. They can also run your E2 and P4 levels to see what's going on and where you are in your cycle if you are not pregnant. Good luck to you! |

My period was 3 weeks late 2 years ago......and all my HPT were coming up negative. I had an ovarian cyst that was causing the delayed start of my period. So, a cyst is definately a possibility.

Linden,
Thank you so much for sharing your experiences! Going through the treatment cycles is hard enough but when you add the inaccuracy of tests to the picture it makes it almost unbearable. It's great that you know you can get pregnant! Congratulations on being five weeks pregnant! Think good thoughts! Good luck to you too. We've been ttc for 3-4 yrs now, I've had two IUI's and one IVF all BFN. I gained 10 pounds after my recent IVF and my chest is so large I thought how could I not be pregnant. After 8 days of being late with my period, when I have never been one day late, I got my period today. I was hopeful but now I am trying to pick my spirit up off the floor, once again. I know I'm not alone, it's so nice to commiserate with women in this forum. Take Care :-) |

Nikki,
Thank you so much for the information on cyst possibility. Another woman in a different thread suggested the same thing. I now have a positive to take away from getting my period, no cyst. Congratulations on your baby on the way! Best wishes. |
