If self-pay, when does RE release you to OB?

Hi Ladies,
I've done an IVF cycle that was covered by insurance and I know that I would have been released by RE at 8 weeks. I'm looking to do another cycle and I no longer have infertility insurance so I would be self-pay. The fee schedule lists the fee for beta/progesterone test and that's it. Once pregnancy is confirmed, do they release you (I do have maternity coverage) or do they make you stay until the 6 week mark (ultrasound)?

Thanks,
LaTanya

We were totally self pay for our IVF cycles. With this pregnancy I was released at 11w. My RE was monitoring my progesterone and estrogen levels closely, I was having issues keeping them up. so I think that is why I went back weekly for u/s and bloodwork until week 11. We paid for the IVF, then once we had a +beta, I paid an additional $600.00 flat fee. that would have been the same if they had released me at 8w or 11w. I figured we just got more for our money. My first IVF pregnancy I was released at 8w.

Good luck
Stacy

I self payed for my IVF but as soon as I became pg, he billed as an OB, and it was covered. My regular insurance covered beta and onwards till I was released at 7 weeks or so, I kinda forgot. It just sucked that I had to pay a $25 copay at every visit. Now with my oB, I paid one copay and never paid another one.
