Sex after IVF

Hi everyone, I am 9 weeks pregnant and I was just wondering if anyone else is still having sex. My last pregnancy was a blighted ovum and I had a miscarriage the following day after sex and now I am terrified to do it again. My poor husband is going on 13 weeks no sex and I feel really bad. Anyone have advice?

Crystal,

If your RE says it's ok, then go for it. Just be easy. I can't imagine the sex the last time causing the blighted ovum. I would just talk with your RE. You can also find other ways to enjoy your intimate time w/DH w/out sex if RE says no.. We got the OK about week 7, once they saw the HB. Have you had an US yet??

Good Luck!!

Amy

Our RE wouldn't let us have Sex the whole pregnancy!!! I was carrying twins and I had a short cervix.

I waited till after the first trimester...around 14weeks, but then had spotting so waited a few more weeks after that.

Yes, I have had two ultrasounds, both were good with a good heartbeat.

Ask your RE. Like Amy said, there's no cause-and-effect relationship btwn sex and blighted ovum, and I'm sorry that happened. If your RE or OB says you are fine to resume sex, then go for it without any worries. If they say otherwise, then there are other things you two can do that count for a lot.

I have been on "no sex" orders for most of my ivf prep time and pregnancy time (now 35w+ with twins). And I know for sure it's not going to be happening for quite a while after the babies are delivered. So the "no sex" situation can be pretty common for IF ladies.

Don't worry about your DH. You are the one going through all the tough IF treatments and pregnancy work. You should feel OK following your RE's guidelines without any guilt.
