OHSS and pregnant anyone?

Is there anyone out there going through severe OHSS right now? I could really use a support buddy. I'm 5 weeks, was hospitalized last week for 3 days and have been home for 4 days. I'm going back tomorrow, praying my doctors will agree to the paracentesis. I've got about 22 lbs of fluid in me

OMG I'm sorry - I can only sympathize. I developed mild OHSS with my positive beta after my last IUI. I was so uncomfortable with MINOR ohss I can only imagine how you feel. I hope you start to drain soon. Mine lasted like 6 weeks, but like I said, it was mild. With all that fluid in you, they will HAVE to do something to alleviate the discomfort sooner!

Just drink alot of fluids.. try to push it out!

Good luck.

Suz, do a search of all the old threads to find out some of the past postings on OHSS survival. It seems like either not too many people experience it severely, or they are too incapacitated to get on FT and post about it.

Some dr's say to drink a ton of fluids, but my RE made me almost die of thirst and limited my intake to 0.5L (half a liter) of gatorade or less each day. I have PCOS and went through moderate OHSS on a failed follistim cycle, then had severe OHSS on my successful ivf cycle with twins. I had started to overstim a few days before ER or ET, I forgot, and RE almost cancelled on me, but fortunately he didn't. Somehow my RE's restrictions managed to keep me out of the hospital the whole time, and even he was shocked that I didn't have to go in for drainage with how bad my numbers were. RE wanted to avoid drainage at all costs as he said there is always a big risk of puncturing, etc. Be prepared in case your u/s shows twins or more, as this is a common factor with severe OHSS. And I remember I looked about 5 months pg for what felt like the whole first trimester.

Try posting on the general IF board as you may get more responses there. GL!
