Nik- thanks for starting the new thread! It is crazy that we'll all be in our third trimesters soon!

Kaj- Sounds like a great shower. Glad you had such a great time!

Heather- I said it before, and I know you know it, but your MIL is SO out of line!!!

Lisa- the movement drives me nuts too. Very off and on. Though he's been very ON for the last 2 days. Unlike me, I guess he likes being back at work!

Amy- Glad you had a good appt. I hate getting on the scale too and I'm only up 14lbs. I think it's just scary seeing numbers on the scale that I've never seen before! Oh and I'm also planning to get the BoB jogger with infant attachment. I've spoken to a lot of people and if you're planning to do any regular amount of jogging/walking the BoB is is definitely worth the money.

I started my registry and I'm getting overwhelmed by the little things like sheets and mattress covers and bottle cleaners.

Speaking of bottles, what type are most people going with? I feel like opinions are all over the board.

For those in the Northeast- are you thinking you'll get long sleeve or short sleeve onesies?? The weather is so iffy in April/May here.

Oh and I'm 99% sure we decided on a name: Evan Ari (Ari is Hebrew)

Does anyone know when the third trimester starts? I thought it started at 28 weeks. But I was on a Web site reading my 27-week update, it said that the third trimester starts at 27 weeks. No big deal...just curious!

Lora - I wasn't going to get any bottles right away since I'm planning to breastfeed. But most people have advised me to have a few bottles at the house right away (in case she doesn't latch and I have to pump), so I put some Dr. Brown's glass bottles on our registry.

Calley - let me know what your OB says about fasting. I have my GTT next Tuesday, and the only thing they told me was not to eat anything sweet prior to the test.

Kaj-according the What to Expect When You're expecting, the 3rd trimester starts at 28 weeks but I think it's really like 27.5 weeks if you figure 13.3 weeks per trimester.

About bottles- I'm also planning to bf but may start pumping at some point so want bottles on hand.

With regard to the GTT- mine is not until the end of the month, but my instructions say not to eat or drink anything 2-3 hours prior to the test. If your test is later in the day, I also read somewhere that having milk earlier in the day could impact the results so I would stay away from milk beforehand.

In hospital again, officially high risk

Hi all,

Just wanted to give update. I had a gushing bleed episode late Sat. night, rushed to ER. OB did exam, removed a palm sized clot, although bleeding slowed. noticed puddle of clear fliuid under me and believed my water had broken. 24 weeks, worst case scenario, transferred by ambulance to high risk neonatal unt at 3.a.m., longest 40 min hell ride of mylife.

Into new neontal ER, ultrasound and viatals all showed to be normal, still had plenty of fluid and all swabs and prelim. test showed no amniotic leak, thank god! Believe it was a urine leak due to UTI, but it looks just like water break. Bleeding was under control. Admitted to high risk unit, met with the experts, had more tests, level 2, the works.

Officially diag. with subchronic placenta abruption. Placenta is now moved up and not a previa, but this diag. is conerning. Given steroids to speed the baby's lung, brain and gut. Dr. thinks if I have no more bleeidng in 3-5 days, I will have good prog. Trying to get to 28 weeks, every week is now a milestone, I will be 25 on thurs.

Good prog. for me it to deliver at 30-32 weeks, great is 34 , anything more is icing on cake. Will more than likely have a preemie. Praying we make it that far. Parents are flying in from FL as I will be on bedrest for remainder. I hope to get out of hospt. by weekend or early next week.

I can't tell you how tramitic this has been, I went from worst case scenario ,sobbing thinking I was seeing my preicous baby for the last time on the US. After many prayers and what seemed like a miracle, water intact, and I am hopeful for a good outcome and every day is a blessing.

Good new is the baby seems unfazed by all the maddness, heartrate always stable, no contractions, measuring a week ahead, normal in every way, very active. We dec. to find out the gender, and it's a BOY!

This bleed is painless and happened out of the blue, given I was alreadyon BR since 12/8, there is nothing I couldhave done to prevent this as is typically the case. these don't show up on US, but having more than I bleed past the 2nd tri. is the tell. It's not an acute abrubption, just chronic, and DR. does'nt believe it will get to that point based on the type of symptoms I had.

Taking it a day at a time, grateful for every day!! Good wishes to all.

Erika - My prayers are with you. It sounds promising that your little boy will be okay - just making an early entrance into the world! Hang in there.
